This series of stories recounted in this environment is far more eerie than I was expecting. You feel an atmosphere of hopelessness between the music and tonal speaking noises. I can see this as the kernel of a further project.

nice game and stories, i think the vibe is fitting and the message of the game is delivered well. i died 3 times before completing all the dialogues, maybe the death timer should be longer.

Death in the Gulag is a deliberately unconventional narrative experience that uses the medium of games to explore the grim realities of Soviet forced-labor camps. Developed and published by Alex Hamadey, it places the player inside a Russian Gulag inspired by the period spanning the 1930s through the 1950s. Instead of transforming this historical setting into an action game or elaborate survival simulation, the experience concentrates on the people trapped within it. Its primary goal is to expose the player to stories of imprisonment, suffering, and survival rather than provide the usual sense of accomplishment associated with completing missions or defeating enemies. The game is presented from a minimalist 2D top-down perspective. Players move through an oppressive prison camp and interact with prisoners and guards whose stories are inspired by real accounts from the Gulag system.
