About Death in the Gulag
Enter the haunting world of a 1930s-1950s Russian Gulag in this 2D top-down narrative experience. Your time is limited—your survival is fleeting—but before your journey ends, you'll uncover the voices and stories of those who shared this harsh existence.
- A Story-Driven Experience
Explore a stark, oppressive prison camp where every corner holds a story. Listen as prisoners and guards recount their harrowing experiences, all inspired by true accounts from the Gulags. - A Unique Approach to Gameplay
With no combat, puzzles, or objectives, the focus is solely on immersing yourself in the narratives of those around you. The game's core is its atmosphere and the hauntingly human stories it brings to life. - 2D Top-Down Visuals
Navigate beautifully crafted, minimalist environments that reflect the bleakness and isolation of the Gulag. - Original Soundtrack
Featuring a custom score that blends haunting melodies and atmospheric soundscapes, the music draws you deeper into the emotional weight of the stories. - A Somber Reflection
This is not a game of triumph or escape but an experience of reflection—an opportunity to bear witness to a part of history often overlooked.

This series of stories recounted in this environment is far more eerie than I was expecting. You feel an atmosphere of hopelessness between the music and tonal speaking noises. I can see this as the kernel of a further project.1 found this helpful
nice game and stories, i think the vibe is fitting and the message of the game is delivered well. i died 3 times before completing all the dialogues, maybe the death timer should be longer.1 found this helpful
A strange game that is free but i wish it was longer. Tells a story that history seems to like to forget. When you about something being bad, its hard for you to understand just how bad it was until you here examples of what actually happened.1 found this helpful
