About Downtown Jam


In Downtown Jam, pull off a selection of stylish tricks and grinds to make yourself a nuisance to the corporate overlords running your city. From the chilled-out tutorial zone, into the cities center and then out into the dark, industrial Old Town.

Revolt against Dr. Taste’s evil soda corporation by shredding the streets on your skateboard! Kickflip, grind and wall-ride your way downtown and beat your friends on the leaderboard!

• Customize your cool cat with different Skateboards, outfits and character skins.
• 3 levels of non-stop tricking and grinding.
• A simplified control scheme throwing back to the Skateboarding games of yore.
• Try and reach the highest score on our global in-game leaderboard.

This game was created by nine university students studying Games Development at the University of Gloucestershire.

Love cats and also was driving skate when was a kid, so this game got potential but mechanics and landing is not that perfect. I wish it was some quests or missions like in Tony Hawk's games but it's simply 3 levels of speed racing with skate. Any way i give thumbs up and for me game is meant to play from 15-30 minutes, because it's too short.

"Downtown Jam" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from University of Gloucester in the UK. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students made a very mediocre skateboarding game for furries, with low poly assets, janky gameplay, zero polish, and zero bugfixing. As a student project and not a full, real game, there's only three levels, and none of them are good. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is…
