About Drag Star!
Get ready, honey! You're a contestant on Drag Star!, the reality TV drag competition. You better throw shade, serve looks, and slay each episode to become the next drag icon!
Drag Star! is a 150,000-word interactive novel by Evan J. Peterson, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination (and sass).
As a contestant on the newest season of Drag Star! You’ll prove your skills on the S.H.A.D.E. scale: Smarts, Humor, Artistry, Daring, and Enchantment. Through celebrity impersonation, singing, dancing, costuming, and comedy, you’ll need to be sickening in every stunt to win it all. But how will you steal the show?
Enter the Twerkshop with your own catchphrase, meet your new drag family, and try to maintain self-care and integrity while still playing to win. How will you balance competing and bonding with castmates like Lady Kali, Scandal Dupree, and Dorian Slay? Oh, but there’s more. Not everyone is playing by the same rules—there’s a saboteur on the cast, waiting for the right opportunities to cause even more drama.
Will you emerge as a finalist and grab the crown? Will you own the catwalk and the title of Fan Favorite? Will your wig stay on while you whip it back and forth? And will you be able to save the show from a devilish saboteur?
Don’t be a filler contestant—slay your way to legendary status!

Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 523: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆☆☆☆ (5/10) Whelp, this is awkward. After receiving a free copy from staff, I was hyped for Drag Star! I've seen a couple episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race and am a casual fan of Trixie Mattel and Katya, so I thought it would be a good fit. Whelp, it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, Drag Star isn't an objectively bad book by any means, but many of the things it’s clearly proud of ended up being the parts I struggled with most. Unfortunately, while the ideas are solid on paper, the execution didn’t come together for me. Choppy writing, uneven dialogue, and a cast that’s too broad to develop meaningfully made many moments that should have felt fun or dramatic . . . flat. Most readers seem to enjoy the cheesy, sassy writing style, but it wasn't for me.
Pros:
✅ Concept. Is it bad that this is one out of two pros I could think of? Ah, well, I don't write reviews to kiss a*s. You play as a drag star competing on a drag show, and you can choose to be the villain, sweetheart, superstar, weirdo, lone wolf, team player, or something in between. The set up is excellent. I was always a fan of these types of games, so when I saw a drag one it, it was such a quick yes. Like others have said, the story hooks you right in, and you just want to keep going and going. I can't wait to play this again!!
An engaging experience that despite the bare-bones presentation manages to create a sense of being part of the game's world. Allows more personalizing of choices than I had anticipated but also it clearly has comparatively darker paths involving sensitive topics that one can go down. The game highlights both the drama and flamboyant flair of drag reality tv but also its calculated scripted nature and absurdity in being part of such an event. Some jokes do not land too well but overall a fun time.
i absolutely loved this game! the story was so fun and entertaining, it kept me going until 3 am. cant wait for drag star all stars
Really silly, and actually very true to form if you watch a lot of Drag Race. Try and investigate the secret drag cult!
Really good with great replay-ability. Nothing too risque or mature, good clean fun and a story you can wear like spandex. 9/10 "I make broken glass into glitter." - yaas queen
