Epic Game Theory is the first game developed and released by Onix Fox. Created in RPG Maker MV the game has an interesting concept with the addition of multiple ends promising replayability however poor area design, frequent grammar and spelling error, broken items and extremely poor story telling quickly undermines any enjoyment that the game would have provided. [h1] Story [/h1] The short story begins with a "Profit" (by which the writer obviously meant prophet) contacting the protagonist in his dreams, foretelling that an upcoming war between Estinos & Westinos will devastate the land killing everyone. There is no reason given why he contacted the protagonist or any character building for the protagonists history so its left to the player to fill in the blank, but we accept the quest to prevent this war anyway if for self preservation if for anything else. Its a somewhat generic story but it would have served the game well enough for the short two or three hours that the game is expected to last, if not for the extremely poor writing throughout the game. RPG Maker strikes again! Epic Game Theory is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel JRPG ripoffs spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club weeaboo fan fiction. Basically, these guys didn't make a game, they filled out a couple of templates in a construction kit then proudly called themselves "developers". Also, like all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. In the case of Epic Game Theory, apart from being just another RPG Maker asset flip, the developers seem to have screwed up somehow and the Steam manifest is empty. The game downloads no files and cannot be played. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.
