The Succession of Changing Kings

A good game overall. I can’t praise it any more highly because of the AI-generated images, but everything else is simply fantastic: interesting characters, a familiar yet cleverly twisted plot, plenty of fun Easter eggs, and, of course, countless deaths.

This is a great example of a choose-your-own-adventure game. It first caught my attention when I saw that the map had been made with Inkarnate, since I use it myself to create maps for tabletop games. An enormous amount of work has clearly gone into both the world and the writing. It’s perfect for sitting down, taking your time, and getting completely absorbed for 15 hours or so while trying to uncover all the possible consequences of your choices - and there are countless possibilities here. Just keep in mind that death is an important part of the experience, even on the easiest difficulty.

A good and challenging game of its type! Resource management and choose your own adventure. Most of the decisions and their outcomes make sense, but of course there is the odd one here and there that comes out of left field. If you like a good challenging version of this where you're likely to die quite a bit as you learn, pick it up!
