About Evil is Back

"Evil is Back" is a retelling of the movies "Evil Dead 1 and 2"... With everything a low budget short film should have. For fans of 80's trash horror movies.

SYNOPSIS

Scott and his friends are going to spend the weekend in a cabin in the woods and isolated from the city.
Upon finding a very old book and accidentally reciting some words... The portal to the world of the dead opens, bringing death and destruction to all who are there.

GAMEPLAY

Shooter with combat and survival elements. Using a sawed-off shotgun and a chainsaw to eliminate grotesque creatures. A few more average puzzles to solve.

HAND OR CHAINSAW?

Without a doubt the best part of every "Evil Dead" movie is when "Ash Williams" loses his hand and uses a chainsaw instead. We decided to be as faithful as possible to the original work.

About an 1h15 to finish. I didn't know if there was a save system so I just did it in one shot. Had a great time, really funny "jank parody" of the original movies. Had a good laugh and was curious how they would recreate the classic scenes from the original movies. My time with this game was super buggy. Game was smooth at forst but the more i played the FPS tanked across the board, textures outside the cabin started flickering, at one time my gun just vanished. A true single A studio experience. Anyway for the price and if you are a Evil Dead stan this is just a must. Groovy / 10

evil is back is a pretty fun low buget "retelling" of evil dead 1 and 2. i say "retelling" lightly as while it hits most of the story beats, the inbetween parts and alot of the specific things aren't the same. however its very fun and cheesy in the best way. i'd say it's easily worth the $3 australian if your a fan of evil dead and just want to have a fun evil dead game to mess around in. pretty fun game <3

I was kind of a fan of Trash Horror Collections, and decided to try any other stuff from the same developer - so I picked up the Red Valley and Evil is Back. I was really not pleased with what Red Valley had to offer and I am little more pleased with what this game had to offer. The only reason I am not disappointed in Evil is Back as much as I was with Red Valley is that I sort of expected this game to be trash. I'm also familiar with the original property "Evil Dead", which was actually fun. Being a game that is less fun than the movie you're based on is really not helping you being more fun. Also not helping things is being a game that is claimed to be a retelling of said story, but ripped-off of any sense, with most of the story cut short, leaving most of the fun out and having the most generic gameplay possible (which I won't even bother commenting on, it is literally an approach reused a hundred times in developer's games). Feels just like a really lazy, soulless work.

Evil is Back is a compact but unapologetically loud survival horror experience that exists as both a game and a love letter to cult-classic ’80s horror cinema. Developed and published by 616 GAMES, it leans heavily into its inspirations, particularly the chaotic, gore-soaked tone of cabin-in-the-woods horror, and embraces camp as much as terror. Rather than striving for realism or psychological subtlety, the game focuses on delivering a fast-paced, visceral horror romp that feels like stepping directly into a low-budget horror film brought to life. The premise is intentionally familiar and efficiently delivered. You play as Scott, who accompanies a group of friends to a remote cabin for what should be a quiet getaway. That expectation is quickly shattered once a cursed book is discovered, unleashing a wave of demonic forces that turn the environment into a nightmare. The story is simple and archetypal, but that simplicity works in the game’s favor, allowing it to get straight to the action without lengthy exposition. Narrative beats are designed to support momentum rather than depth, reinforcing the feeling that this is a playable horror movie rather than a narrative-driven drama.…
