About Exocomets

Exocomets is a basic yet difficult action game where you try to survive as long as possible against incoming waves of comets.

One hit, and your ship is dead.

You have a simple task: survive for 100 seconds.
To do this, you must unlock and utilize various powerups.
Along with powerups, stars can be found floating across the universe. Be sure to pick them up to give your powerups a boost!

As you go deeper into the universe throughout levels, more powerups will help you, but more comets will appear, and faster.
Good luck trying to beat the game!

Music by Ethan "ethanpiedude" Pesikoff, Mark "marchimedes" Trautner, Andy "KeyboardFire" Tockman, and Matthew "matthewpipie" Giordano.

✦ AI summary

Players are sharply divided on this minimalist avoidance game. Critics fault it as an overly simplistic, unpolished cash grab with poor controls, repetitive music, and little to distinguish it from free browser or mobile alternatives, especially at its $2 price point. Supporters appreciate its straightforward concept and addictive difficulty curve that keeps them engaged despite its simplicity, though even fans acknowledge it's a bare-bones experience better suited to flash games than a Steam release.

It's an extremely bare-bone experience to say the least. Move your cursor to avoid circles on screen. And that's basically it. Controls are kinda bad, the music is horrible and repetitive. Definitely not worth $2, not even $0.50 in my book. It's playable, kinda challenging, but I'd consider it simple and unpolished even for a browser game, let alone a steam game. There are many games out there doing what this game does, only better.

Exocomets is a minimalist mobile app style avoidance game where you put your finger on your iPhone screen and drag a ball around avoiding all the big yellow balls. Pick up time extenders and shields to extend your game run and see how high your score can go. It's like Pac Man with worse graphics, no maze, hundreds of ghosts, and no power pills. Whee. For whatever reason, probably quality reasons, this never reached the mobile app stores it was apparently designed for, but there's no such quality controls on Steam so I get to review this one, and I wish I could have my time back. This is just a lazy cash grab and it was dumped into DailyIndieGame bundles to extract as much money as possible from a bad asset. Really not worth $2 considering there's better free mobile apps.

Pros: Simple concepts that anyone could grasp. Just avoid the yellow balls and try to collect some power ups. They introduce a new power up every level. The games do not take very long so you could play them with only a few minutes of time. The music is actually very good. It feels like the music is better than the game. Cons: The game is way to simple and I could find a game like it on a flash games site. Most of the powerups are not beneficial to pick up. The sheild and sometimes the shoting ones are the only ones ever worth getting. The bomb automaticly causes you to lose all of your star power, which isn't worth clearing the screen of everything, not just the yellow orbs. The time slowdown just causes the balls to stay on the screen longer, which can make things very compact. I find myself trying to avoid most the power ups than collect them The music doesn't fit the game. This sounds like it contradicts the pro, but the music is way to detailed and good for such a simple game. It doesn't feel like it should be on this game at all and should be in a game with a little bit more detail. Most importantly, I did not find this game fun. Some people might, but it is not my c…
