Felix The Toy is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. And this is unusual because it's from the known asset flip scammer, Tero Lunkka, so in this case I think he just got his hands on someone else's game and is trying to scam people into buying it on Steam. The original game is an amateur game made for the Nintendo Switch. It's unclear if the actual developer gave any permission for Tero to launch the game on Steam, but then he frequently breaches intellectual property agreements and licenses to dump his garbage asset flips on Steam. Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software/XYX Games have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Felix the Toy is very nearly a hidden gem, as the platforming is really a lot of fun and the game world is enjoyable to explore. It's basically the plot of Toy Story but it takes a weird detour at the end. The main thing I don't like about this game is the fact that all the levels are open at the beginning. I beat each level in order but technically you can skip all of that and go straight to the end if you want. The electronic music is great and the game play is generally pretty fun. You are basically finding keys on each stage to unlock doors at the end and progress. The game starts out easy but gets gradually more complex. The final few levels have some pretty difficult sequences and this game as a whole took me about five hours to finish. There is a puzzle element to figuring out what path you need to take to reach the key. You might see the key on a ledge but there is a specific route that you need to take that might start on the other side of the level. There are sadly a lot of invisible walls that stop you if you try to play your own way which is annoying, especially since other indie platformers like "Pseudoregalia" have very fluid motion and the ability to carve your ow…

It's a nice 3D platformer with cute graphics and music. With elements of research and collecting. Its low price is a good offer for lovers of calm and relaxing games. The environment of the game is reminiscent of the Toy Story.

If Bubsy 3D and Katamari had a disabled child, this would be the result.

I would have been fine with this if it was a free game on itch being a little personal project being finished by a developer to prove themselves. This isn't though, it's a paid game and I was gifted it to share in my friend's suffering and they got their wish. I now want a written apology. This may seem harsh but I'm just being honest. Every part of this game has been aggressively designed to be as mediocre and unenjoyable as possible. Invisible walls are put in completely nonsensical locations to the point that even on the very very few selected routes, you'll bonk off them and have to spend absolutely ages walking back and doing lengthy platforming sections again and again. That's if jumps being eaten, the character randomly lifting off the ground or player momentum being eaten mid jump doesn't get you first. I've even fallen through solid platforms randomly. Collectibles are spread out in over sized levels as far apart as possible in increasingly large numbers in levels that exponentially increase in size. Almost everything appears to have been made with primitive shapes and textures made in paint which would be fine if it wasn't for the fact the dev didn't even bother to work…

After reading the developer's post-mortem, it pains me to say: I can't recommend this game. The main culprit is the fact you have to find the Intended Route the developer wants you to get a key via invisible walls. Then when you think you've found a way to get to a key, one of these will most likely block you and you have to look around and go "okay....which way do you WANT me to go?" I think it's a bit of a flaw that you worried so much about people going the unintended way to get a key. I think there's a certain kind of joy in finding unintended routes, because it makes the player feel clever. Or at least block a route with a visible thing, and not an invisible one. I like the artistic direction the game has: simple but endearing, and though it took me a while to get the physics of the jumping down, you can actually make some pretty tricky jumps once you start getting the hang of it. I've noticed that some people seem to enjoy this game despite the flaw of invisible walls, so maybe for a dollar, you can too, but I personally can't recommend it.
