A spanish point and click adventure from the golden era. 3 Skulls of the Toltecs is the first game in a trilogy of the games, probably the best one. It follow the story of Fenimore Fillmore in his quest to find the golden skulls in order to find a hidden treasure. Other characters involved are a friar, a colonel, the apaches, mexican revolutionaries and french soldiers. As with most spanish adventures, the game is huge with tons of locations, items and characters. Puzzles are generally logical, unlike french adventures, but there's so many permutations, details and the ocassional pixel hunt, that most gaming sessions are just walking from place to place trying random stuff until something works. Fortunately, there are absolutely no dead locks nor deaths. Most of the humour is hit or miss, with very obvious punchlines or long dialogues that lead nowhere. There's a peculiar obsession with an unseen character named Dr. Hengelhoffer acting as some kind of funny gag. Voice acting is generally ok, everyone sounds and acts like a cartoon character. I was not prepared for the absolutely awful racist stereotypes in this. It's awful. The gameplay wasn't great up until that point, but I can't keep playing after that.

some P'NC adventures from the 90's have aged well. this one certainly didn't! it probably was cr*p back then too and the remake doesn't seem to have helped much, save on a few technical aspects at best. humor is as lame as they get, rock bottom level. many puzzles are based on moon logic and should never have left the minds of the devs. the game was really lame on that department too. people get killed in horrible ways and tortured, not exactly a P'NC adventure custom. one could argue it's not fair to judge the game's PC level looking back from 30 years further, but the depiction of apache natives was disgustingly racist as well.. this thing really is an abomination, definitely not fit to be played in the modern era by any standards.

In the 90's I used to go crazy for games with lots of animations. Not so much anymore and I didn't really play this back in the day because there was better. I think I only like this one cause has that cheap nasty old game feel, if that's not what you would like then maybe skip it.

nice game - I was worried it would bug my playthrough, but it worked perfectly for me. funny game, too :)
