I'm a huge fan of old school point and clicks, and the Gabriel Knight series is one of my favorites. Thought this might give me a little of that, but this just isn't in the same ballpark as GK. The characters, when they're not uninteresting and well-trodden stereotypes, are about as interesting as cardboard, especially the main character, who has absolutely no personality aside from occasionally making self-referential "jokes." The story is plodding, with too much time spent where absolutely nothing happens, and when something does happen, it's too brief. In short, it has terrible pacing, even by the standards of the era. The puzzles are almost nonexistent. 95% of the game is talking to NPCs and exhausting every dialog choice. This would be somewhat acceptable if the characters were more interesting, but they are not. This would be acceptable if these characters had anything to say, if there was any insight or worldbuilding in the things they said, but they just simply answer your queries in matter of fact ways until you stumble across the dialog choice that moves the story forward. I suppose they did a decent job with the remaster, but I honestly prefer the old graphics. The…

the game looks like the image I have in my brain from when I discovered the original on PSone (not like it really was). And the original voiceover (I actually play it in french) completes the trip to nostalgialand, very nice. I hope they'll do such a good job for the second episode
Beautiful looking remaster. Some of the gameplay doesn't feel quite as fresh, with some of the inventory puzzle solutions being a bit non-sensical. Good characters except your love interest who doesn't do much or have much of a personality. Still, fun story and locations.
It's a nice-looking remaster of a '90s game, and the writing is dryly comedic which adds levity to the adventure plot of the game. The audio is a bit scuffy at times, with the Nico voicelines often coming in particulary staticly. The puzzles aren't too hard to figure out, though some of the solutions for them require first an interaction before you can use them. If you like point and click adventures, this is a good one to try.
