About Fine Work: Act I

Fine Work: Act I is the first in a Slice-of-Life Romantic Mystery series, featuring cute clients, scheming gods, sentient cities, wild concerts, and weaving dreams.

You’re just getting settled in the city of Gleamhold, and your workshop opens tomorrow. Sure, it's nice here, this cozy corner of a big, weird universe. But your new clients hail from distant dreams, bringing their own strange dramas to your doorstep. One and all, they seek sendshape: artifacts woven from the stuff of memory. And you don’t intend to disappoint.Fine Work has mushroom mail, memory swapping, celeb dog-blobbers, undercity fight clubs, and a conch-shaped obelisk that eavesdrops on citizens…what more could you ask for?

Dazzle Your Patrons

Get to know Gleamhold’s otherworldly residents, and win them over with your artistic prowess (or, you know, just being friendly). You’ll grow close to your clients over late night gossip, underground escapades, drinks at the Hobby Lantern, long walks, and exploring memories while sendshaping.

Weave the Dream

Craft beautiful, bespoke artifacts with relaxing musical gameplay. Explore your clients’ memories in a surreal 3D dreamscape as you perfect your trade. Each client brings their own distinct musical style, be it foley-driven electronica, sword-fight breakcore, or baroque chamber tunes.

Explore a Living City

Gleamhold is a growing city, with lots to discover! By day or night, from public squares to secret underground reaches, each cinemagraphic environment changes with the time of day, season, and happenings within the world.

Spin Your Own Tale

With six starting traits to choose from + branching paths and hidden intrigues, no two playthroughs will be the same. Are you Charming? Discerning? Graceful or Mighty? Your choices now will change the future of Gleamhold and its strange inhabitants.

Dive Into the Lore

This is one of the most intriguing story games I have ever played. The art is incredible. The fine details amazing! Haven't finished it since I stream it once every other week. I can't wait to see and understand more of this world and story.

Fine Work was a chance I took based on the art style and my love for Visual Novels as a genre and story-telling medium. While intrigued by the concept of a VN/Rhythm hybrid, what I found was a love letter to both, merging writing with the concept of "memories/send" to immerse the player into the story. Each song felt like it belonged in the section it was introduced in and it's one of the few times I've genuinely considered purchasing an OST through Steam.  While I was given the key for free in exchange for coverage, I will be happily purchasing Act II and beyond with my own money, as well as watching the team for other releases. To the development team, keep up the good work!

From the bottom of my heart and soul, thank you for making this game. i just, truly cannot express how much i see everything i wish and yearn for in this game. EVERYTHING feels like home, the idea of send, of cherishing memories, the different forms people take, dreamseeds, dreams within dreams, the ways characters experience the world. I feel like iv finally found a game that can help me water my loneliness, to quote Journal With Witch (good show, watch it!). As I'm playing this game I can't help but yearn for and fawn over every little detail, from the setting to the characters to the words they use. This is probably the first time I can say with 100% certainty that I have found "my game". I'd love to play this forever, truly. this game is definitely not for everyone, but oml is it for me. i wish i could just live in this game's setting, id be so much more at peace. I can't even hope to give this game a rating. All I can say is "please play it". For the people that see this review and try it, I hope you find something of yourself in it. I know I certainly did.
Fine Work Act I Review: Not Your Traditional Rhythm Game
In Fine Work Act I, you play a shaper who transforms memories into items commissioned by your clients, creating objects they can treasure forever. Shaping feels immersive thanks to unique rhythm controls that take place in graphically-gorgeous dreamscapes unique to each of your clients, and the slow-burn story keeps you hanging on with its rich cast of characters and deeply-textured worldbuilding that grabs you from the moment you set foot in the atelier. My only question is: when's Act II? <3
TL;DR: Fine Work Act 1 Foxfire Review Scores & Rating: 4.0
Price Point: 4/5. I received a free review copy of this product, but at 12.99 CAD, pricing feels in-step with the indie scene at the moment and feels fair for the amount of work and replay value included in the game. Fun Factor: 4/5 Gameplay: 4/5 Story, Characters & Worldbuilding: 4/5 Maps & Environment: 5/5 Music: 4/5. I actually wish there was more of it. Recommended: Yes! This was super cute! I loved the rhythm sections with the controls feeling very unique, the music felt very relaxing and atmospheric (confused there was only Easy and Hard as options) and the visual style is stunning! Having to learn new vocabulary is confusing, but it wouldn't be the first game. I definitely want to play more of this! Marr is my favourite (the dog blogger was cute too) [Key provided by the devs] Stream when I played it (Live thoughts): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2795200345 https://youtube.com/live/hHAgZrelpsI

I was emailed by the devs (I run a tiny gaming youtube channel) to check out this game and review it. I've only played the first lil bit, but it seems so promising. The music is so well fitting for the game, and the rhythm sections are so creative!!! I also love the characters and their designs, and the story seems so interesting. Go play this game rn. It's very fun and its a crime that it doesnt have more players.
