FLAM EVAW serves as a direct continuation of Detective, Guard My Secret! and expands the series into a larger, more dynamic detective adventure. You return as Kurosawa, following a new trail that leads to the luxury cruise ship Chilanhao, where investigation, danger, and character drama intertwine. The game builds noticeably on the previous title: evidence is now presented through a detailed clue-card system, deductions rely on matching information, and both solo and partner-based investigations add variety. Skill-tree abilities and character-specific support actions further deepen the sense of involvement. The number of clues can feel overwhelming, but the design is forgiving incorrect attempts carry no penalty, and correct reasoning is rewarded with clear progress indicators. Production quality remains high for an FMV title, with clean visuals, expressive performances, and optional modes that adjust style, pacing, and even the protagonist’s voice. Humor and playful moments continue to appear between tense sequences, creating the same “serious on the surface, playful underneath” tone that defined the first game. FLAM EVAW is an FMV detective thriller that doubles as a romance sim. It’s a sequel/spin-off to Detective, Please Protect My Secrets, and it moves the action onto a massive luxury cruise ship. The Good Production Value: This is one of the better-looking FMV games out there. The cruise ship setting gives it a high-budget, cinematic feel that doesn't look like it was filmed in someone’s basement. Actual Gameplay: Unlike many FMV games that are just "click for dialogue," this has a "Hardcore Reasoning" mode. You collect clue cards, use a skill tree for your female assistants, and actually have to solve the case. It feels more like a game and less like just a movie. Content: With over 7 hours of footage and 12 different endings, there’s a lot to do. The mix of suspense (investigating the Rainbow Crime Organization) and romance keeps the pacing from getting stale. The Bad Complexity: The "Realistic" difficulty mode can be genuinely punishing if you miss small details. It’s easy to get a "Game Over" or a bad ending if you aren't paying close attention to every clue. I got stuck in the first chapter and didn't have the faintest clue what was going on. Onward to new challenges - and hopefully to games that make more sense!

A decent premise with a deeply flawed execution. A large part of the issue is the translation; it is not done well, leading to confusing directions and hard-to-follow storylines. The game mechanics, while good in theory, are often just confusing. Lastly, the characters do not have the charm that one typically expects from this genre. Cannot recommend at this time.

I am greatly enjoying this FMV game, if you can put aside your language barrier and really invest in reading and thinking you'll find a masterpiece in adventure, story and engagement. You are the detective, solve the case.
