About Gensei Suikoden Plus

'Unleash the Fury of Punch and Witness Rivulets of Sweat
An Action-Packed Martial Arts RPG

'Venture into the untamed realm of Ataho, the enigmatic protagonist, secluded within the heart of the rugged mountains.
A fateful day dawns when a formidable tiger fist martial artist emerges,
beckoning Ataho to partake in an epic martial arts showdown,
but he gets caught up in unforeseen events...

'GENSEI SUIKODEN' is a classic top-down RPG. While it serves as a sequel to the 'GENSEI' series released on the Japanese DS, its story is entirely standalone, making it accessible to newcomers as well.

The game offers an average playtime of around 24 hours, which isn't overly long, but it compensates with a variety of hidden events, mini-games, and secret pathways. These features ensure that each playthrough can feel fresh and exciting, providing new experiences every time.

The core gameplay revolves around navigating 2D maps, gathering information in towns, clearing events, and progressing through the unfolding story. As you move through the maps, you'll encounter enemies, and when battle begins, the screen switches to a side-view format. The combat system allows you to use both regular attacks and special moves freely, making it easy to win battles. Even if your entire party is defeated in combat, you can immediately revive from that point and continue your journey.

'GENSEI SUIKODEN PLUS' is based on 'GENSEI SUIKODEN,' featuring completely new resources that have been reimagined in a modern pixel art style. The game has been enhanced with improved resolution and updated visuals.

In addition, 'GENSEI SUIKODEN PLUS' includes exclusive content that expands upon the original experience, making it even more enjoyable.

Decent introduction to an unknown series with modern mechanics and quality of life features that turn it into a pretty easy game. It's more of an action adventure than a RPG. This is an updated version of a game that most players are unfamiliar with. The Gensei series features approximately ten titles that have never found popularity outside of the Asian market, owing in large part to the lack of a good means to play them. While not the first game in the series, it could be the best. The plot revolves around three characters. There is a tiger martial artist named Ataho, a cat fighter named Rin, and a dog named Smash. The upcoming tournament is the main event that brings them all together, but it turns out there’s a bigger threat out there. As you can see, the game's universe is home to both people and anthropomorphic animals. Except than this, it is not distinguishable from other RPG worlds. The gameplay loop is basic, with you alternating between exploring dungeons, defeating enemies, and visiting towns to buy items and move the story forward. Sadly, this is a very linear and short experience because you go through chapters and have no freedom. Towns are not really intriguing…

[Anime/RPG] A niche legendary popular RPG in the 90s is now revived as Plus with new additional content. Shorter but deeply challenging game. While there are some minor changes and differences in the feel/look of the original game, it is basically as enjoyable as it was in the past. The most noticeable improvement is the increased technique level-up probability, which seems to have reduced the stress of repetition considerably. This Plus version also has additional elements (chapters 9 and 10), so there is more than enough incentive for old players to play. Of course, newcomers will also be able to enjoy this retro typical RPG with laughter and tears.
Check out our Steam curator , YouTube channel and X(Twitter)!
These are my impressions from 45 minutes of gameplay. The game is boring...so boring!!! You walk around with a big sprite. You can't really interact with anything. NPCs you meet say one or two meaningless sentences. In between, there are constant fights...which are unfortunately also boring. You slowly realize that some kind of story is being told. But it's chopped into such small pieces that you barely notice it. What else is there to say? You can save in inns. Searching for extras is apparently pointless...at least, I haven't found any yet. I regret wasting money on this.

A nice revival of Gensei games that got no new installments since 90s, after the original company declared bankruptcy in 2003 and a nice way to introduce new players to the series. The gameplay loop somewhat easy, the game encourages you to use different and special moves which get more powerful each time you use them. The game also somewhat utilizes exploration of the world map, but the game is very linear so at some parts you won't be able to return and finish all the tasks left, you might have to replay the game few times. The good part is everytime you replay it, you might find new content or new places, characters and possibly moves to be used in fights. The only things I disliked about the game was how linear it was, tho for me replaying the game is no problem and also the lack of customization, as you cannot remap the controls or play the game at a lower resolution or a monitor that is not 4:3 or 5:3 if you wanted for it to have the 1997 feel as for some reason the game refuses to load at 4:3 and 5:4 resolutions, tho these cases are rare. (yes I use a CRT to play modern games I find it amusing)
