FINAL FANTASY II

Story was great and interesting but the leveling system was not fun at all. The idea behind it is not bad but I cannot say the same thing about the execution of it.

TL;DR - Final Fantasy 2 is one of the better arguments for the Pixel Remasters on Steam, as there was no prior or secondary version available on the platform. But ultimately the problem is that it's still Final Fantasy 2, the first truly sub-par game in the series for a host of reasons. In the fullness of time, FF2 was only impressive when it was made due to the limitations of the hardware of the day, and it only exists in modernity a failed experiment. If you are going through all of the classic FFs for whatever reason or have picked up the PR bundle, this version works well enough. But if you are thinking of picking up just this game by itself for its own merits, know that they are few. At Length - In terms of the value proposition here on Steam, this is currently the only way to legally acquire Final Fantasy 2. So if you want to support Squeenix and want this game, this is your only option, unlike say Final Fantasy 3 or 4, which also have 3D Remake versions available, and prior to their delistings, FF5 & 6, which had iOS versions available. FINAL FANTASY II ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .... Alright, I see why everyone says this is the worst one now. Which is kind of funny to think about. On paper, this game seems like the perfect sequel to the original Final Fantasy. Characters feel more fleshed out, the world map feels more lived-in, and combat has more depth... but the game has a massive problem that looms over everything else: a great, dark evil commonly referred to as the "stat leveling" system. I don't think I can say anything about how leveling works in FF2 that hasn't already been said, and to no one's surprise, I also found it to be a problem that the game greatly suffers from. At best, the system accomplishes only more grinding. You will find yourself spending an entire battle having someone spam Esuna just so it can be a usable spell, [spoiler] Ultima can only live up to its name if you spend literal hours grinding all of your stats to max,[/spoiler] and yes, hitting yourself is the optimal way to raise your max health. Everyone who hates this game is wrong. Far superior to FF1.

This game is Ok through & through. my biggest problem is the leveling system its not bad just annoying for me since each stat is individual, but this game is completely unbalanced tho. just make one party member get really good at one thing and by the end those stats should be high leveled and will destroy any enemy, but the most important stats is evasion and agility. If u can get this super high leveled then the game is a piece of cake because u wont get hit by any physical damaging move. these stats wont help with magic so also try to get high magic defense, u will become unkillable. also the final boss is a joke if u plan correctly and have the right weapon. one more problem is the fourth party member. they should match ur party stats when they join not be almost base level for everything. so yeah it was fun and kept me engaged with a few problems mostly the leveling system but every game has its issues
