GRANDIA HD Remaster

Great Game. Absolute alltime classic. This "Remaster" is sadly totally unplayable, though. Game is constantly lagging, voicesand text are completely not synchrone. For a game with whacky and charming voice-acting that's a total no go. I'd recommend the original any time of the day, but this "Remaster" is sadly just a cashgrap with little to no afford put into it.

Just like I remembered. One of the best JRPG battle systems combined with A tier skill progression, (requiring using varied weaponry and repeat skill use to power it up) killer character art and stellar music by Iwadare. As a series, Grandia shines with its sincere kidlike sense of adventure and seeing what's over the next horizon. A great series if you are a fan of the accidental or reluctant hero archetype. It's a remaster not a remake, so the games are not all the way modernized. BUT they are worth playing

Ya no, Too dated honestly. Very slow start, cute story, but drags too long, too much wandering, etc. And just simply does not look good, graphics all sluggish and stilted, while not at all using the actual gpu (and no not even using the onboard, like it was not trying to use gpu at all) Even if it did, and it was smooth, the 'remaster' is very little actual work, still looks like bleh. Might be ok a few(like 10) years ago in this state, but not as presented. Never got past first town before lost interest, so take the 'review' with a grain of salt.

I first played Grandia when I was a young teen - maybe 14 years old. I immediately fell in love with the art, the voice acting and the feel of adventure. I must have played through the game 3 or 4 times in my teens. Playing it as an adult awakened that sense of adventure again. There are some obvious flaws - far too many monster encounters in the late game, and the fact the HD remaster appears to have been a cash grab rather than a labour of love - but the game stands the test of time. It's a great experience. Probably ~50 hours worth if you aren't familiar with the combat system or where to find good gear.
