Joey's graceful movements
- Of course you can jump! Jumping is an essential part of the gameplay. Short jumps, long jumps, millimetric jumps, always. Watch out for the fall!
- Hey ho, you can rush too! Jump too short? Platform too far? Go for it! But watch out for the fall!
- Swing! With your spear, you'll be able to hold on to certain parts of the scenery and swing to progress through your adventure. This technique is often essential for crossing huge chasms. But, once again: BEWARE OF FALLS!
What Joey doesn't know, but you do, now
- The world is spinning. Regularly, gravity will knock you off your feet. The closer you get to the top, the harder the fall.
- You can activate checkpoints. Just so you don't rage too often. That would be a shame.
- There's also a drop counter to depress you and compare you to your buddies.

"Get Out Joey" is a very intriguing platform game, halfway between "Shovel Knight" and "Celeste". However, here, you play as Joey, equipped with his spear, which brings a unique technicality to this genre. I feel like this game is builed up towards speedrunning, which constantly creates a desire to go faster and makes falls espacially frustrating. The easy mode is an excellent deep dive that adds a most enjoyable replayability to the game. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the genre, but Joey has awakened in me the soul of a challenger who refuses to be stopped by any of the obstacles. For an independent game developed in such a short time, I am blown away by the game design, although it sometimes struggles to renew itself. Some mechanics are delicately added to the gameplay, allowing time to digest the new features. This game is full of potential; with a little more gestation time, I think it could easily rise to the rank of master in its category. I'm writing this after about 1 hour of gameplay (89 minutes), and I'm eager to discover what comes next. I recommend this game to all fans, it will not disappoint you, and to newcomers, it could pleasantly surprise you.4 found this helpful
The game has unmarked mature content; the first part is fine but as you ascend there's a theme change that contains what looks like (albeit very pixelated) dead bodies and flowing blood. This is not indicated on the store's page, so I can't recommend the game.
