[h2]*Spoiler free review*[/h2] For context, I am 42 hours into the game, and am nearing the end of Act 2. I have not completed the game so this review may be subject to change. [b] (Edit. [h2]Pros:[/h2] [h3]Lore - [/h3]The game has the amazing, in depth and winding lore of the Warhammer 40k universe to draw on as well as a prequel game to tie into and does not disappoint in this regard! They effortlessly explore the dystopian bureaucracy, the blind faith, depressing doctrine and dogma of the Imperium as a whole and to a greater extent, the Mechanicus. I wanted to enjoy this game, but it has bugs so bad it borders on malware, with crashes that prevent any form of exiting out, force my background to change, and closed down steam.4 found this helpful
Just buy the first game. The tech-priest customization is gone and replaced with a hero system, the Necron campaign blatantly received less effort than the Mechanicus one (the unit pool is shallow and the heroes are almost entirely indistinct from one another, not to mention that all the Mechanicus units are designed to thwart Reanimation Protocols) And like all of this could be enjoyable, but the game is buggy as ♥♥♥♥. I did the Necron campaign first, and now that I'm in act 2 of the Mechanicus one I can't get the game to launch at all. I get to see the logo screen, and then the game closes. I'm writing this review after its fourth crash in a row and assertion by Steam that the resource integrity is fine. I really do think there's a way for them to salvage this, but as it currently stands this is a far inferior product to Mechanicus 1.3 found this helpful

Just play Mechanicus one. Twice.
Bugged mess. 40hours into campaign it bricks. Support offer no help at all just suggest I submit a bug report using their system and await a patch. Lots of broken interactions and bugs even at this point (it launched even worse with admech techpriest starting abilities not working). Gameplay loop is a big divergence from the 1st game and whilst fun for a short while it wears off quite fast. Campaign is far too long for what it is worth - you unlock all the units about half way through and the game becomes trivial as well as repetitive from there as ther eis no real change to gameplay for the next 50%. Leagues of votann only have 3 units so fighting them becomes very repetitive and they don't really do much. They feel like a very forced addition to the game and if it wasn't their first showcase in a AA 40k game I'm sure we'd all complain about their addition to this game far more. Voice acting is a nice addition but is far too slow. I finish reading the sentences by the time they are only 33% voice acted. Very annoying. The game is dreadfully mediocre without the bugs, but with the bugs it's not worth buying at retail price even if you're quite well off.
