GOD WARS The Complete Legend

I played this a lot more that I would have imagined.

God Wars is one of the old school JRPG styled games where you have to save the world from destruction. The typical trope. But like every other JRPGs the longer you play, the more attached you are to the world and to the characters, and so the you start to like the game as well, along with its flaws. I won't spoil much about the story but want to briefly talk about the Pros and cons of the game. Pros: Old School JRPG feel. Character sprite is good with moderate to long story to enjoy Gameplay is relatively simple albeit you need to grind abit One of the better achievement to showcase in your profile Cons: Grind, grind and more grinding AI is useless, you have to manually play the game even if you are already overpowered to reduce turns. Class system- illusion of choice : Being that most of their skills are relatively the same but with different class name being slapped on. Story is kind of easy to predict The achievement grind is just annoying at times, and some don't trigger properly (from my experience) Even with all the flaws, the simple gamplay, I would still recommend it because of the beautiful artwork and the retro-nostalgic feel this game is giving. If you count value by number of hours and price then God Wars at a discount is bargain of the century and you should but it immediately and ignore my review. For all others, here goes... Given my initial excitement I admit to being disappointed about not recommending God Wars. Starting with the good, art, anime-style animation are excellent. If you are someone who loves the job system then this one is for you. MANY jobs, each with a solid number of skills including character specific unique jobs. here I struggle is with the fact that the skills aren't well differentiated and seem rather convoluted to me for no reason. The fact that you not only need to unlock a skill but also level it up is in principle not bad but given the grinding requirements it becomes absurd. The game is also a little haphazard, I don't like the fact that you can find Move+1 and Move +2 on two separate lists rather than logically being similar, the logic behind ability ordering is unclear to me. Music is nice for the first 10 minutes but I eventually turned it off for being too repetitive. My biggest problem with this game which I have already touched on is how bloated it is. It's such a shame that God Wars, even though it's a blast of fun to play, is riddled with glitches. This game was already buggy and prone to random slowdown on PS Vita, but it's even worse on Steam Deck! Every time I turn off the system for several hours, the game is unresponsive; no inputs work. Plus, this game is more prone to freezing on Deck than on PS Vita, but here, said freezing affects the ENTIRE STEAM DECK, leaving you with no choice but to shut down the Deck! I shudder to imagine what this unstable game could do to a desktop pc... Long story short, this game needs a patch, badly

The art style is so cute I really like it and the voice acting is good but the controls are so janky it's unplayable for me
