About GOKEN
GOKEN seeks to bring back everything that was right about gaming in an action packed open world environment in the form of the good old Action RPG genre and have the old school gamers tremble in nostalgia.
-Scenario-
Long ago, when gods lived amongst people...
There lived a swordsman who was given five swords forged by god himself.
Using these swords, the swordsman brought peace and order to the world.
People called the swordsman, "Wielder of the Five Swords"...
One day, during a fete to praise the gods, the blades of the swordsman turn against the gods for reasons unknown.
One of the gods, Ozone, furious with all his powers, sealed the swordsman away at the top of a mountain now known as Swords Peak.
This tale begins 5,000 years after the battle between the two, near a the small village of Cardina.
-Game Overview-
Seamless open-world game mechanics
While the game features a rather old school “quarter view” mechanic, the map transitions and event scenes, even the combat is all seamless as can be to enhance the overall gaming experience.
Real time strategic action battle system
Utilizing 2 primary attack buttons, users can assign different weapons to each button to create a unique combo that fits the users need as they go. Monsters, bosses and stage gimmicks can require a specific type of weapon at times creating opportunities for users to strategize their best route of approach.
Customizable Tattoo system
Utilizing "tattoos", users are given specific points upon leveling to get the protagonist inked as a form of powering up so it could be built to one’s own. Raising MAX HP and Stamina, learning new and special moves are just a few of many ways players are able to customize their character depending on their play style.

I have a lot of small nitpicks about Goken that by themselves would be forgivable but together just made me too annoyed. Combine them with the fact that I wasn’t a huge fan of the sprint based combat and it wasn’t a fun time for me. For starters I find the map system next to useless. The map indicates general areas and some point of interests but you can’t use it to track quests. On top of that your quest log doesn’t track main quests only select side quests. You better write down any dialogue hints as to what to do or where to go because there won’t be much else to help you. You can’t access the map from a game pad either. Back in 2017 the developer indicated they wanted to get these features implemented but at the time of writing this about five years later and none of these have happened. As for the sprint based combat it is simply a matter of subjective taste. I understood what the developer was going for and for the most part I could make it work but the more I played the more annoyed I got. I liked the graphics and music. I was mixed on the story as I didn’t really like the main character, playing an annoying loud mouth isn’t something I enjoy. I liked the lore and side chara…12 found this helpful
Not worth getting it IMHO. - The movement are not smooth. (Especially during attack + dash) - The bosses attack are homing, no matter where you dash away it will auto follow you, unless you dash at the right timing you can dodge it. And their attack have no cool down they just spam non stop, but they die fast tho. - The whole game only has 4 quest, and you really need to read their dialogue because they don't give hint on the map where to go next. ( Wasted lots of time walking around the whole map to trigger cutscene. ) - Most of their monster are duplicates while just changing their element and color looks. - Out of the 5 weapons, the most imba weapon could only be the 2handed greatsword, while the rest are totally useless and could only use for unlocking achievement. ( Due to the fact that this game only needs to do is hit and run method. ) - Lastly you are required to manually save at any point of time, if you died somehow most likely it will restart at your last saved.6 found this helpful
Review from after pretty much beating the whole game... Well, it promisses a old-school like RPG. And does it deliver it? Yes. The combat is well-made, the graphics are good and there's little FPS drop here and there. Simple stuff, no voice acting, cutscenes as the same of old RPGs... overall it's a good game, if you can overlook things as griding for levels and materials now and then, some materials not being used, a few annoying and unbalanced mobs (for both sides of the balance), a good but sometimes repetitive soundtrack (which comes as a free dlc, that's neat), and monster assets that could be a bit more varied. Ironically those complaints also fit some good old RPGs. The stats system mostly covers the lack of equipments aside the swords, but doesn't add skills or anything to vary much the mechanic of the gameplay besides combos and evasion, which makes it simple yet a bit shallow. If you want to play it, go ahead, but just be aware of these issues, and that it's a fairly simple gameplay if you're already used to RPGs (not that it's bad, just how it was made). However I don't really suggest it being good enough to pay the full price.3 found this helpful
Doesn't even start on windows and there's no info or response from support
GOKEN, developed and published by GIANTY Inc., is an action RPG that deliberately channels the spirit of older hack-and-slash adventures, favoring straightforward mechanics and nostalgic design over modern complexity. It presents itself as a return to a simpler era of the genre, where exploration, real-time combat, and steady character growth form the backbone of the experience. Rather than trying to compete with large-scale contemporary RPGs, it focuses on delivering a compact, accessible journey that emphasizes familiarity and charm. The story follows a once-legendary swordsman who awakens after a long absence with his memories fragmented, setting him on a path to recover five sacred swords tied to his past. This premise leans heavily on classic fantasy themes—lost identity, redemption, and ancient power—and while it doesn’t introduce particularly original ideas, it maintains a consistent tone that fits the game’s overall design. Dialogue and interactions are presented in a light, occasionally humorous way, giving the narrative a sense of personality even when it remains relatively simple in structure. Combat is built around real-time action with a focus on responsiveness and a…
Ah Yes!! Love the old classsic, i prefer this kind of kinda simple action rpg which have less time to play as we are getting older & alot of thing need to do in life, this game is really a savior. Its help me stay calm & enjoy the lockdown of convic-19 apart from working from home. Took me 3 days to finish it with all achievement & without using any sort of walktrough, the only 1 thing that i look for hint is the beggar u need to donate certain amount..... THis game is like YS, alundra, zelda, brave fencer musashi accept it doesn't have jump capability but this GAME IS GREAT. Humor wise its not that impressive compare to like brave fencer but the game play is just awesome. Thank You developer for this GAME. U should start something like brave fencer musashi since for som time there has not any game that preceed it in terms of game play & humor... the fundemental is already there i think. Pros: 1. Dont take ages to play, a little bit of grinding fo equip, lvl & money but still achievable without wasting month & life. 2. Great graphic the texture remind me kinda like wildarms (not the battle part) but with more actual movement 3. Great soundtrack ( any soundtrack that loops in ur he…
