I’m a bonafide degenerate, but even I felt dirty after playing this. It introduces "concepts" I genuinely wish to unlearn. And of course, being a Shiravune release, it comes with ugly mosaic censorship. The voiceovers are bleeped too. Game's still good though.

Great Deceiver is a mature visual novel developed by Empress and Elf and published by Shiravune that leans heavily into character-driven storytelling, psychological tension, and provocative themes. From the outset, the game makes it clear that it is not aiming to be a light or comforting romance story. Instead, it presents a narrative rooted in power imbalance, manipulation, ambition, and desire, using these elements to explore how an ordinary person can be reshaped by circumstances far beyond their control. Its tone is bold and unapologetic, targeting players who are comfortable with adult subject matter and morally ambiguous storytelling. The story follows an unassuming protagonist whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is singled out by Marie Mamiya, the commanding and enigmatic CEO of a powerful corporate empire. Despite being surrounded by wealth, influence, and seemingly more qualified individuals, Marie selects him as her personal trainer at an elite fitness club reserved for society’s uppermost echelon. This unusual choice immediately establishes an air of mystery and unease, drawing the player into a world where appearances, control, and personal agendas are constant…
PROS:

Finally, a genuinely good AVN. If you grew up with classics like Bible Black or Starless, you'll immediately understand the appeal.
Marie be my sugar mom!
The femdom content is handled exceptionally well and feels like a core part of the experience rather than an afterthought.
It explores a variety of taboos and fetishes that are rarely seen in modern visual novels, helping it stand out from the crowd.
The character models are absolutely stunning. Every model looks like a work of art and showcases Sei Shoujo's talent.
Outstanding voice acting that adds a lot of personality and immersion to the characters.
Several memorable scenes that are both visually impressive and emotionally impactful.
Multiple endings encourage replayability and make your choices feel meaningful.

CONS:

An external patch is required to access all of the content, which can be inconvenient.
Some of the fetishes and taboo themes may be too niche or uncomfortable for certain players.
The story can become surprisingly dark and disturbing at times.
Credits cannot be skippe…

When I was younger I saw some anime videos called "Bible Black," which were dark, anxiety-inducing, and really unsettling, but stayed with you. This game is apparently related to said production via the artist, and it's very much like the show I just described. It's just as dark, anxiety-inducing, and unsettling, and it also stays with you. Blessedly, it's short, so you can get back to your regular life and take a deep breath, and pretend nothing happened, but during the time your playing it's a horror show. The game itself has great production values--everything is well-produced, the graphics, character design, music, voices, user interface--it's all top-notch. The story starts out at a pretty good pace, which is nice given so many games of this type have a hard time world-building, character introductions, and moving the story along at the start. Once the story gets going though, it doesn't really let up and keeps getting darker and darker. A lot of the themes can be rough on some people: SA, forced sex, etc.--so if this is triggering, stay clear. Others are aimed at kinks that some may find offensive or not their thing (watersports, Cleveland steamers, transmissions on display…
