Players praise the game as a fun, affordable VR archery experience with wave-based gameplay and progression upgrades, though some note it feels aimless with limited long-term goals. Common complaints include inconsistent and unintuitive bow mechanics that don't match real archery, control issues (especially with Valve Index compatibility and the charging system), lack of movement/rotation options, and minimal replay value without stronger incentives to continue playing.
I was really excited to try this game out with my Valve Index, but it doesn't work. Specifically, I spawn in the barn and see three portals in the distance, for what appear to be different gamemodes to choose from. I have an axe next to me, which I can pick up and throw. The default bindings for Valve Index don't allow for throwing the axe properly, so I changed the Grip bind to fix that. However, I still cannot figure out how to select a gamemode. Here is what I tried: [olist] [*]Aiming at the portals with my controllers and clicking the trigger [*]Using the analog stick to move towards the portals (but there's no movement apparently) [*]Throwing the axe at the portals [*]Every button on both Index controllers [*]Modifying the controller input to act like Oculus, Vive, or Pico controllers [/olist] None of these made any difference. I tried so hard to look up if others had ran into this issue, but I was only able to find one video of this game, and 0 discussions on it (aside from your typical reviewer explaining what the game is about). Please, if someone knows how to get into the actual game rather than just standing there with a throwable axe that does nothi…1 found this helpful
For most of what this game does, Valve's demo archery minigame does better. Biggest annoyance is that arrow speed+range is based on your draw time (ie. you charge up the arrow by holding it for longer). This makes switching between ranges and shot speeds unintuitive. It should be based on how far back you draw the arrow instead. EDIT: On further testing, the arrow range/speed is influence by draw, per the dev, but the charged shot mechanic does function in a way that can create unwelcomed inconsistencies between shots. Additionally, I still feel a large inconsistency in the bow mechanics and shot patterns that do not resemble real archery nor exist in other VR archery games out there.1 found this helpful
Played on Oculus Rift S This is a wave based VR Archery game where you have to defend your village from enemy minions along with your own life. You only have your bow to defend with. You do get to pick a upgrade/spell after a few waves which you can use if you hold an arrow pulled at max strength for a few seconds, but besides that you don't get anything else. The village has it's own HP along with you having separate HP as well. The game ends once you get hit enough, or enough minions reach the villagers. Controls: Pressing the A button on your right controller switches which hand is holding the bow, while you use the other hand to pull an arrow back with the other hand via the trigger button. You only stand in one spot, so there's no movement or teleportation, and you also can't rotate in-game. Pros: - Variety of different enemies to kill, with some running straight at the entrance to your village, some summoning more minions and others that will attack you directly via projectiles or flying into you. - Some upgrades do make it easier to deal with groups of enemies or aims arrows for you - It's cheap at only $3 AU. Neutral: - Nothing really stood out either in sound or music …1 found this helpful
Great fun. Pretty aimless though. Needs some reason to continue, or else there is just an hour of playing here.1 found this helpful
This is another PSVR port I believe and not really worth messing with. No options, slow progression.
fun little game for the pricepoint really worth it
