If you are new to the Hollywood Mogul games, please don't make a $300 million sci-fi epic the moment the game's installed. Hollywood Mogul 4 is a fairly complex business management simulation.Make a few smaller movies first at Difficulty Level 1. Give yourself some time to understand the attribute rating nuances for Visual Effects and Story Scope, genre, and character development, pace, plot twists, sub-plots, and Set Design. Not to mention how those things will relate to the Director's ratings in Perfectionist and Script As Written, On-Budget, and Effects, as well as if it's better to cast the lead role with a talent that has a high Sex Appeal rating but a low Humility rating because their Screen Presence is a little lacking. Also, the necessary Advertising Budget will bankrupt your studio. So please don't make a $300 million sci-fi epic right off the bat.

worse than previous versions. no update for months now.9 found this helpful
Aside from the inclusion of TV shows, this just kinda feels like a step down from the last game2 found this helpful
I really, really wanted to like this game. Text-based movie studio sims are a niche genre within a niche genre, so naturally I tend to try them out when something new comes out. And that one is more miss than hit. During my first try I've managed to hit it big almost instantly with a low budget horror movie, then it was pretty comfortable from here. But my main problem lies not in with lack of challenge and not with the clunky UI either - I've played lots of TEW, I can live with the clunk. What I can't live with is that... the game isn't very fun. Nothing really happens in the game world. You just produce one movie or limited series and then move on to the next one. I believe I could run more immersive game just by brainstorming my movie ideas with Claude or Gemini. I know that with those games you're supposed to use your imagination, to fill in the gaps, but it gets tricky, when it's mostly gaps with little substance between them. Still, I do not regret buying, at least for the sake of supporting the developer. Hoping that updates will flesh out the world a bit more.1 found this helpful
I remember wasting hours on the old games from this series, but I couldn’t really justify £16 for this new version. The UI was terrible, especially for the modern era, it looks like a relic of the times, and that was fine some 20 years ago, but it isn’t fine now. I think more work needs to be put into the UI and accessibility to take advantage of the underlying engine and mechanics, but I don’t see that happening, so I don’t recommend the game, sorry.
Easily the best gd movie sim you will ever play. Period. Easy on the eyes? Heck no. Realistic? You bet your bottom dollar, sweetheart. It is definitely a "settle in and let's play" kind of game. You blink and you'll miss it when it comes to people cast. One thing this game has over its competitors? Developer dedication. Like 2000% more.
The game is solid. The thing that makes it is the options to make the text and background any colour or size. For me, a guy with sight problems, that's key. The game itself is kind of addictive. The only downside is that the database is all USA based persons.
