About Moviehouse – The Film Studio Tycoon

Greed, for a lack of a better word, is good

Welcome to the big show! MOVIEHOUSE is the game film-fans have been waiting for. Ready the camera, unleash your creativity and pile up the profits! Grow your operation with your razor-sharp business sense and usher in a new era for filmmakers worldwide…or fail trying. After all, this business is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you’re gonna get.

What is this? A studio for ants?

Experience the decades – start with a small film crew in the 80s, develop your first short-film, and taste the sweet nectar of box office revenue. When your
enterprise expands, you’ll create better movies, hire a larger crew, and, of course, need a bigger boat!

Drink their milkshake

Use your wits to outsmart the competition and leverage your intuition to spot the next hit-genre at the box office. Win prizes at events, take the biggest slice of the pie, and become the most successful studio Hollywood’s ever seen.

That’s a bingo

Make movies your way — pick from a dozen different genres and plot the perfect storyline. Make a spy flick, a romantic comedy, a bloody slasher, or something
entirely different. It’s up to you to strike the perfect balance and make a true blockbuster, becoming the godfather of cinema.

Cinderella story. Outta nowhere.

Assemble the dream team — hire directors and writers, nurturing their creative talent and skills to ensure optimal creative output. A good crew can bring viewers to seats, while the director charts the movie’s course. Make unknown actors famous overnight, or put them on the sideline if they don’t live up to the hype. After all, you’re the boss now!

✦ AI summary

Players describe Moviehouse as a simplistic clicker-style management game that feels more like a mobile game than a full PC experience, with common complaints about technical issues including crashes and failure to launch, alongside frustration with its repetitive and tedious gameplay loop. While some appreciate it as a casual time-passer focused on the business side of studio management rather than film production details, most agree it lacks depth and polish, making it a poor value even at its low price point.

So even though read through the bad reviews I still bought this thing. Hit play and was greeted buy a cartoonish spinning movie reel with the subtitles like "Hiding the boom mic" so I waited. Now I am GenX, I come from a time of the Atari 400 and waiting 20 minutes + for games to load via cassette, no big deal right? I waited....and waited...and waited....the sound cut out.... I waited, then I closed it. This game is trash, however I only paid $1.09, so no loss, however I feel that buck-O-nine could have helped the homeless or gone to TLC animal shelter, but I digress. A $1.09? why no 99 cents?, that 9 nines rakes me. Anyway, avoid this spoiled milk. waste of time.

Moviehouse – The Film Studio Tycoon is a management-focused simulation that explores the business, planning, and creative compromises behind running a movie studio, rather than the glamour usually associated with filmmaking. Developed by Odyssey Studios and published by Assemble Entertainment, the game positions the player as a studio founder starting small and gradually navigating the shifting landscape of the film industry. Its core appeal lies in transforming abstract creative ideas into financial results, asking players to balance artistic ambition with commercial survival over decades of virtual filmmaking. From the beginning, Moviehouse establishes a slow, methodical rhythm that emphasizes long-term thinking. You start with a modest studio, limited staff, and basic production options, choosing which types of films to create based on genres, themes, and audience appeal. Instead of directly crafting scenes or watching movies unfold visually, the game abstracts filmmaking into a system of choices, budgets, and probabilities. Scripts are written through selectable concepts, directors and actors are hired based on stats and cost, and production moves forward largely through menus…

Ive never played The movies so had no expectations going into this. Its a really fun management film game. not too focused on the production and finer details of movies but more of the business side of the studio. Its an easy time pass game. gets very tedious
