About Movies Tycoon

ABOUT THIS GAME

Lights, camera, your action! Ever dreamt of ruling the cinematic universe but lacked the perfect hair or overpriced sunglasses? Fear not! Movies Tycoon lets you dive into the high-stakes world of film-making. Take on the challenge of producing blockbuster films that captivate audiences worldwide. From building your very own studio, hiring the best in the industry, to sitting in the director's chair – every decision rests upon your shoulders.

Be the Director, Even if Clueless

Forgot to take the camera lens cap off? That's a "bold choice in minimalistic viewing," my friend. Dive headfirst into the unpredictable waters of directing. Make scripts that come to you in dreams, set up scenes that defy conventional logic, and let your unique vision guide every frame. Think of every "oops" as an "artistic oomph." And when the critics scratch their heads, or your lead actor asks why their biggest scene is a silhouette masterpiece, just toss your hair and say it was all part of the grand design. And should your magnum opus not receive the adulation you expected? Well, genius often goes unappreciated in its time. Remember: your film isn't a misfire; it's a misunderstood masterpiece waiting for its moment in the spotlight. Lights, camera, unconventional action!

Build & Customize Your Studio

Start off with a space that screams "my uncle's garage" – complete with suspicious stains and a family of raccoons. But fear not! Soon, you'll be upgrading to levels that'd make even the snootiest of Hollywood moguls spill their overpriced lattes. Establish your brand in the industry, making it the most sought-after film production studio!

Talent Scouting & Management

Spot raw talent and recruit them before your competitors do. Form lasting relationships with actors, directors, and writers. Keep their morale high and manage egos to ensure a harmonious working environment.

Detailed Character Creator

If you stand out among the competition, your studio will attract all the best creators in the industry. But what if they're... well, not quite what you had in mind? Fear not! With our state-of-the-art character creation tool, you don't have to wait for the perfect director or actor – you can craft them from scratch! Channel your inner Dr. Frankenstein as you meticulously sculpt every tiny detail of their appearance and personality. Want an actor with neon green hair and a penchant for melodrama? Or perhaps a director who sports retro aviators and has an obsession with film noir? Your wish is our pixel.

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of The Movies by Lionsgate Studios and played it when it first came out and I still continue to play it to this day. I absolutely love that game. With that said, I was very hopeful for this game when I first discovered it and now that I have played it, I am so happy that I bought this! It really does have the familiar feel of The Movies, which allowed me to quickly pick up on the game's mechanics and have started on a profitable studio. This game takes what made The Movies so great and has improved them! The actors and movies have actual dialogue which I love. Wither or not you've played The Movies back in the day, I would HIGHLY recommend this game. You will not be disappointed.

I wanted to love this game. I REALLY did. Had it on wish list for ages. Having been an enormous fan of The Movies back in the day, I read the reviews, I watched videos online, and lowered my expectations in the hopes I could scratch the itch after all this time and patching. They were even releasing DLC's, so I figured, "Surely they've gotten it to where it needs to be..." Got the game, fired it up and gave it a short go. Enormously disappointed. To save you from reading a long list of complaints after less than just two hours of play, I'll sum it up by saying this: "It's just TOO Indie." That's the TLDR. If that helped you decide, then feel free to move along. If you're curious for a bit more about why I'm refunding this, even at the steep discount I purchased it on, then feel free to read on. It's not long, but I have to throw it out there. Full disclosure, my library is FULL of Indie games. I'm a fan and supporter of developers who take an idea and pour their heart and soul into it, then polish it 'till it shines. Sometimes it's golden; sometimes it's just a shiny turd. In this case, it's the latter. There is just SO much polish missing. I watched the first "movie" my s…

This game has so many bugs and glitches, especially in the movie creator, that makes it unplayable. The worst bug I encountered, three different times by the way, was when you play a scene to see how it turns out, the camera glitches and then makes everything disappear when you are in the movie creator, making it impossible to do anything else. it just leaves a blank skybox. I wanted to enjoy it, but these bugs are just inexcusable.

From a simulation perspective, Movies Tycoon falls into the mid-range of complexity. It's not as tough or deep as hardcore business sims, but it offers enough depth to require real strategic thinking. Visually, the game leans more toward a clear management interface than cinematic immersion. You won't see film sets in detailed 3D production sequences – instead, you'll work through dashboards, charts, and management screens. It is worth picking up on a good sale.

Yeah, I should have listened to the negative reviews. This game isn't even finished! First of all, how in the work do I make a custom movie? Even the AI feature in the game does not work, it just froze my game and caused me to force exit the game. Also, the achievements don't work. I won a humble award, and nothing happened. No achievement was activated. This was such a waste of a great concept, but something tells me they relied too much on AI being the main "mechanic" to help with making movies, but even if I didn't make or watch any of my movies, it would just be a boring, and uninspired studio management sim. Playing the demo of the other movie tycoon game, sure it's not The Movies, but it's something different and far more clear on how to make a movie. It feels like it had more effort put into it then this game.
