There’s no in-depth story lines, minimal management, barely any branching paths, and the game hands you the exact stat requirements for all four main endings right from the start. Holy ♥♥♥♥♥ Emily is more of a raising and management simulator than its outrageous title initially suggests. You have two years to prepare Emily to become a recognized saint, dividing each day between studying, working, church activities, and maintaining your relationship with her. Improving the church and carefully managing money and statistics creates a surprisingly satisfying progression loop. Your decisions affect Emily’s development and ultimately determine which ending you receive, so there is plenty of incentive to replay and experiment with different schedules. The adult content is obviously a major part of the experience, but the simulation mechanics give the game more substance than a simple scene-unlocking gallery. The routine can become repetitive, the interface is fairly basic, and the controversial premise will understandably make the game unsuitable for many players. Still, it delivers exactly the unusual adult management experience it advertises. I launched it because of the ridiculous title. I stayed because apparently running a church requires more financial planning than running an actual kingdom.
