HoRoyal 〜Hololive Battle Royal〜

According to the Tutorial this game only exists as an excuse to listen to Holomems scream in your ears while you mash buttons for no reason. Now I'm not saying that's a bad thing-

HoRoyal is a silly little action game that knows exactly what it wants to be. I am thrown into short battle stages as a Hololive talent and my main job is basically to run around, use abilities and beat everything in sight. There is not really a big story getting in the way, which actually suits the game because the whole thing is built around chaotic fights and having fun with the Hololive theme. It is also completely free, so I can get into the main experience without having to worry about paying for anything. The thing that stands out immediately is the voice system. The game has more than 10,000 commentary style voice clips taken from Hololive talents' gaming streams, and they constantly play around the action. I actually think this is what gives HoRoyal most of its personality. The fights would be fairly simple on their own, but having voices reacting around me makes the battles feel much more energetic and gives the game a strange feeling of being inside a chaotic livestream. It can get loud and ridiculous, but that is clearly the point. The combat itself is easy to understand. I pick a talent I like, equip abilities and head into the battle stages. This is essentially a great thing to show people when you want to explain why "Just add voice acting!" isn't a good thing for devs to do. This game is just a bunch of chaotic screaming and the devs consider it a feature so peak that they feel like spending ten minutes explaining how the point of the game is for you to listen to random phrases pulled from youtube videos. In reality, you can't hear ANYTHING other than a chaotic screech. It's also not really an auto battler, a battle royale, or an action game. It's a tech demo. It's neat to see all of the 3D models, but they're essentially just all default models with the hololive models stretched over top of them. The devs clearly wanted to bank on the popularity of Hololive and Holocure/Idol showdown but had none of the talent needed to actually create an interesting game to play, so they just slapped the hololive brand on it and shipped it off. It's a free game, and even THEN it's not worth playing.
