About Inbetween Land

The city's mundane rhythm is suddenly disrupted by the emergence of a flying island high in the sky. Though the island initially appeared to be deserted, the citizens realize that they are not alone in the universe. Before long, the island becomes a tourist magnet, increasing revenues and crime. Then one day, Mary, who works at the city orphanage goes missing after a beam of light is seen coming from the island above. Explore the creepy island using the clues Mary left, make friends with the spirits of the island's people, solve challenging puzzles, find missing crystals and take your friend back home in this absorbing adventure.

The minigames, location design, and perfunctory but unobtrusive story are actually pleasingly above average for this publishing category. Unfortunately it is also an extremely short (~3 hours) game, even without skipping anything or abusing hints. This is despite the fact that it doesn't deviate from the lamentable formula endemic to this now tragically misnamed genre: a mishmash of unoriginal and ultimately optional "challenges" featuring mostly anything but hidden objects, standing as superficial obstacles to trudging through an underwhelming sci-fi/fantasy story. Hundreds (thousands?) of these mostly indistinguishable digital dime novels have been published over the past twenty years, and being in the top half of this enormous and homogenous pile doesn't seem sufficient to recommend it. Still, it isn't without its charm and I don't regret spending $3 and half an afternoon with it. If you have an unhealthy compulsion to play every game in this genre, you could certainly do much worse.

There's a lot to like in this game....nice graphics, logical in knowing what to do with everything you collect, a simple story that is neither melodramatic nor wordy and fun puzzles...except the last one, which I had to finally skip. All in all, a fun escape room type game.

This is a very simple game but the art is fun, the story exists, the puzzles are distracting (but not hard) -- if you want a casual, point and click, semi-adventure game, this is great. Would also be great for young kids.

This was a childhood favorite of mine and just as charming with the loveable graphics and the fun little puzzles like it was when I was a teen. Maybe that's where my fascination by fictional civilizations with strange technology and floating islands came from.

A nice puzzle solving game with lots of mini games, challenging but not impossible to solve.
