About In Between

In Between is an atmospheric, award-winning platformer where you solve mind-bending puzzles by manipulating your surroundings and gravity itself.

In Between is set inside the mind of a man hit by a cruel twist of fate. Together you are on a journey through the protagonist's head, a world that doesn’t obey the laws of physics. Free your mind and defy gravity in more than 60 compelling and unique puzzles, requiring all your wits and agility.

As you follow the protagonist stumbling through the stages of accepting his own mortality, new mechanics are introduced. Each stage offers unique gameplay reflecting the emotions that surface when the protagonist copes with his fate.

Every human has a story to tell. But you never know when the story ends. Be invited to learn about the protagonist’s life and his struggle for a happy ending. In Between features interactive story sequences and a profound narrator immersing you into a life of downfalls and moments of happiness.

Much effort was put into detail to feature a unique art style with every asset made entirely by hand. Every scenery is a painting, providing a beautiful frame for a tragic story. This also extends to sound design and music featuring unusual and interactive soundscapes.
A disguised Rage Game with puzzle aspects hidden behind a great story and atmosphere
Really great visuals and fantastic music, story and atmosphere It pains me to leave a thumb down... Game starts off quite well, but the moment it introduces the shadow that closes in on you, the experience kinda falls apart for me. It makes the game far less about the puzzle aspect and puts the emphasis on traversal execution. There are too few checkpoints and it was a frustrating experience that took me many sittings to fully complete this frustrating game over some years, being a masochistic completionist. The E-Z Achievement is still taunting me. I guess in a way the experience of playing this game is on theme, because I really felt like dying at many points

This game's story is semi decent, and the artstyle is fine. But the gameplay keeps changing with obstacles that aren't really properly taught to the player and just add issues to an already frustrating game. The controls don't respond well enough to properly move the character - in many situations this latency caused the character to die because I pushed the stick - while the character was on the surface - and it decided to not move properly in that direction multiple times for multiple deaths. The first obstacle encountered was literally a wall of death. That was so annoying because the levels already restrict your field of view artificially, so it's hard enough trying to figure out a path to navigate. Then they add the anger ball - which just hunts you down, sometimes. I in particular had an issue with "anger" level 4 - where the game does not convey, at all, what you should do in order to properly maneuver the boxes in both sections. I had to look up a video on how to do it, and it still took me several tries to convince the game the boxes should move in this fashion. This was the first time the boxes were moved like that, there was no preamble. The game's tutorial do…

Unfortunately, we only have one path in this life... Philosophical motives arise in this game

My bad, I should have read the user tags before buying this game. Buried in there are the terms, "precision platformer" and "difficult"...and those are understatements! There is no wiggle room whatsoever with the running and jumping to avoid the shards of glass that instantly kill you, the controls are hesitant when you need them to respond RIGHT NOW and the character keeps his feet spread, making it easier to land on the killer glass. I was really getting into the story and would love to go on but the mechanics and required skill level are way above my pay grade and made this drudgery to continue. Game over for me.
