iTownGamePlay UNIVERSE is a strange little free RPG built around the Spanish YouTuber iTownGamePlay. I take control of the character and get pulled into a story where some of his subscribers have been possessed by dark forces. From there I am travelling through the game world with a small group of Animatowners and trying to restore peace. It is a very specific kind of game, and I think it works best when I look at it as a fan focused adventure rather than expecting a huge standalone RPG. The main thing I like is that there is actually more here than I expected from the simple premise. There is player customisation, exploration, combat and a basic RPG structure, so I am not just watching a story about the YouTuber. I can build my character up and move through the adventure while dealing with the different enemies and situations along the way. The game also has Steam achievements, which gives me a few extra things to work towards after finishing the main parts of the experience. I also like the silly tone of it. The idea of subscribers being possessed and the whole Animatowner concept gives the game a very internet focused personality. It is not trying to be a serious fantasy RPG, …
