About Jane Westlake Adventures - The Mystery Train

Follow Jane Westlake on her quest to discover the secret of a mysterious train and stop it from leaving with its cargo.
Explore mysterious locations where you have to use your action skills to defeat enemies, solve puzzles and figure out clever ways to conquer objectives.
Your adventure takes place in a mountain forest around and old viaduct. There is a military operation looking to load and unknown cargo discovered deep in the forest, onto the train that rests on the viaduct above you. Defeat the soldiers and explore the environment to locate weapons and items needed to advance your mission.

The game takes place in one level, without sacrificing the quality and complexity of the game or requiring you to spend more than a night to complete it.

KEY FEATURES:
 • Death-defying environments - you have to find your way up an old and huge abandoned railway viaduct. A dangerous and very tall course awaits you.
 • Use Jane's athletic ability to navigate the environment.
 • Use action skills to defeat your enemies. Find weapons, ammo and explosives to aid your fight.
 • Use your intelligence to solve puzzles in order to advance.

✦ AI summary

Players overwhelmingly criticize The Mystery Train for its clunky, unreliable controls and movement mechanics, citing poor jumping physics, unclear collision detection, invisible walls, and motion-blur-induced nausea that make basic navigation frustrating. Beyond the control issues, reviewers report technical problems like missing level geometry, broken checkpoints, unresponsive UI buttons, and vision-obscuring environmental design that compound the gameplay experience. A few players acknowledge the game's short indie nature and appreciate the developer's effort, though even sympathetic review

This game is abject crap. Hey, I like some jank in my indie games, but not like this. It's a "puzzle" TPS that does literally everything as poorly as possible. Jumping and movement feel terrible. Running seems to change your body position, but not actually speed you up. You're never sure if your jump is going to make it across the gap, and there's at least one where you illogically can make it going diagonally (i.e., further) than straight across. Your head bumps on everything. There are invisible walls everywhere. Oh, and you'll need to constantly navigate walking on narrow obstacles over dizzying heights while your vision is completely obscured by tree branches. You can also break the game entirely due to its terrible checkpoint system. Others have already pointed out falling off of the tower with the elevator after grabbing the battery. I will add another: I made it to the section where you need to close a portal with a spellbook (no explanation for any of this, by the way...the story is nonsensical and practically nonexistent), but I did so without ever finding the bomb in the previous section...I simply climbed a platform and jumped over the fence. But then I couldn't…

Very clunky controls. Motion-blur levels are nauseating. UI feels like it's in a rough alpha state. Halfway up the first obstacle-course tower there were some missing stairs, I fell and died - the "Start Game" button did nothing, only option was to quit.

The Mystery Train is a short indie action-adventure with simple controls and a few puzzles. The atmosphere was quite boring and the shooting felt a bit off, but I appreciate the developer’s effort. The game is suitable mainly for indie fans looking for a quick experience.
