Chapter Four, before upgrades, may have given me PTSD. It was a beautiful day out with the family, we decided to go to the aquarium. As soon as you get in, you're greeted by a low sitting tank, encouraging you to touch... STARFISH. The exact series events is a bit blurry from this point, but I remember standing over one and immediately he gets aggressive. Friggin' staring at me with his five eyes, the nerve! So I come back at him, shouting "OHHHH ya spineless, wet asterisk! You ain't no star, ya background scenery! Why don't you go regenerate some redeeming features!" Well that's what he starts moving, and that's when I notice all the others. Whole damn tankful. My vision goes red, I jump in. "OH YA LIKE TO MULTIPLY, DO YA? HOW'S THIS FOR MUTIPLICATION?? ONE FIST! *boom* TWO FIST! *boomboom*" Next thing I remember, there's children running away crying, desperately clinging to their mothers for safety. The sound of a wet, rubbery arm suctioning itself to a child's face as I rip apart the starfish. "LOOK YOURE MULTIPLYING! THERES MORE OF YA! THERES MORE OF YA!! THERES MORE OF YA!!!" More ports of older games should look at this as an example. Packaging the orginal game and adding fleshed out enchanted verison. Adding more gameplay and progress to the experence made this NES way better than it was before!
It is a fun game, and the enhanced version is good for two hours of play. However, It is definitely not worth the $15 it is selling for. As others have mentioned, it is a glorified romhack of the NES game. So take that into consideration.
The enhanced version is great, fun little systems that mix up the gameplay, love all the retro sou effects of my childhood
The original game is kind of a classic in my memory banks. The enhanced edition doesn't really feel much better than the original. It has some new elements that are good, but otherwise it just feels like they made the game slightly more tedious. I'd only recommend it to fans of the original game that really want to play it again without the use of the original cartridge or via emulation and roms found somewhere on the interwebs.
The Enhanced Mode is great!
