Joon Shining is a golf-inspired puzzle game with emphasis on precision and platforming to reach the goal. This review is written after having completed the qualifier (tutorial) level and some of the main levels. [h1] Gameplay [/h1] The titular Joon takes the role of the player character, who must use his magical powers to direct dodo eggs into their nests to avoid their extinction. The player has access to various objects in the world to help or hinder their progress, and can also apply magic to slow/stop the balls progress or continue rolling to achieve a better shooting position Off the bat I’ll say the tutorial is pretty bare bones at this point, introducing you to the tools/concepts but not really providing any idea how they will come into play. Self explanatory ones like camera movement and adjusting shooting angle are fine, but when dealing with manipulating objects it can be a little hard to decipher. I can definitely see an argument for this being part of the puzzle, however for an introduction to the game I feel there’s no harm in laying things out for the player. Joon Shining full release is finally out! If you played it as Mage Drops, you need to go back and give it another go - all 8 worlds available, better graphics, tons more polish, new soundtrack, even has a story now! Really cool golf / puzzle platform hybrid. Joon Shining might have a golf theme but it's more of a puzzle platformer. Lovely art & matching soundtrack, 8 huge worlds (tons of levels!) and dynamic controls and obstacles make for a fun game. This is great fun! Stunning graphics and tricky "mini-golf" courses, with lots of challenging mechanics. Great fun!
What an amazing game! If you like challenging puzzle platformers I highly recommend this one, it's quite addicting trying to figure out the levels to get the highest score and try to finish on PAR or below. This game is golf/magic/fantasy themed. I was looking for a game to quench my "Arcane Golf" thirst (another game that I love), and this one fitted the bill perfectly. The stylized graphics are great and pretty, the music is also good, there are ton of levels and the difficulty just keeps ramping up, I am amazed by the variety of obstacles/mechanics that keep getting introduced. I wish to see more of this! Nice job.
Joon Shining is a gem that’s for sure. Engaging and interesting game mechanics with an enjoyable soundtrack. The worlds are vibrant and engaging. Thoroughly enjoyed the game over all and recommended giving it a go.
