About Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge
Kamaeru is a cozy frog collecting game about farming and preserving nature. You play as a kind soul helping an old friend restore the wetlands of your childhood by transforming them into a safe haven for friendly little frogs. With the help of the game’s cast of welcoming NPCs, you will photograph and breed frogs to increase your reputation, decorate your frog refuge, and plant native crops to help your amphibian abode thrive!
Collect frogs 🐸
Feed, breed, collect, and raise all of the game’s 500+ frogs! 🐸 It’s up to you to figure out the secret to attracting new and adorable frogs. You can complete your collection by unlocking all the rare colors through a special breeding mini-game. When new ones join your refuge, use the in-game camera to take photos of them and collect them for your frogedex!
Restore the wetlands 🌾
In order to succeed in your quest for frog preservation, you will need to restore the nearby wetlands to their former glory. This will allow you to continually support and cultivate the area through a process known as paludiculture!
Dig ponds to let water roam the land again and plant native wetlands species to harvest precious crops. From there, you can transform your pickings into manufactured goods that can be sold to improve your froggy habitat further!
Customize your frog refuge 🎨
New furniture will bring new frogs with it! As you personalize your habitat, new poses of frogs will be shown into specific kinds of furniture. Plus, it’ll attract attention to the area–and with it, new visitors! You can even repaint furniture to better fit your own unique style sensibilities.

First, I want to say that I really like frogs! They are absolutely adorable in this game. The game is very easy to get through. It has a small storyline for you to complete and space to decorate with furniture and other items. You can also color some of them. While it is all cute, it sadly isn't entertaining enough for me. It is mostly a few clicks here and there, making items, selling them, clicking on frogs to feed them to collect the ones you miss, or breeding them, placing a few ponds and plants...and that's it. I can see the game being great for people who like it slow, and maybe a younger audience might really like it. Once in a while, I had an issue that made me close the game because I couldn't interact with anything anymore. That happened a bit too frequently, mostly when I was interacting with the shop on the first map. There are a few maps, but the tasks remain the same. For me, it was a bit too boring too quickly, but as I said, for other people it might be a good game.12 found this helpful
Really cute game. You collect frogs, feed frogs, and breed frogs (not a fan of the breeding, very rarely do I get lucky enough to get a new frog). You can decorate your different refuges, and make items to sell in each area so you can buy furniture for your frogs. It's simple, adorable, and enjoyable. Edited to add: Once I got the hang of breeding, it became relatively easy. Just takes a bit of patience :)5 found this helpful
Cute game, but definitely not worth the price. Took me 6h to finish the story and 16h in total to 100% it, but honestly it could've been a 3-4h game for much cheaper and it would've been great. The game is not challenging in any meaningful way. The achievements don't support the optimal gameplay, so I had to redo my optimal plant/water placement to get the 100% bioscore achievement for example. Speaking of optimal gameplay, I would get quests to level my sanctuary up to lvl 24 when I was already on lvl 27, without even trying - everything makes you money and nothing really costs all that much, so you'll be drowning in money eeven before finishing the story. Even unrooting the plants you've already planted will refund you. You have 4 tabs to switch between, your refuge (frog area), wetlands (planting area), billabong (frog and planting area) and mangrove (frog and planting area) and there's.... Very little difference between these when it comes to gameplay. The biodiversity is taken very literally and is the same across the board (plant one of each) and the minigames to make stuff are fun when you first play them, but then they become disappointed because there's no difference b…2 found this helpful
