About Kaodi

Kaodi is a brief tale about the scars that war leaves on both the world and the heart. After playing a pivotal role in the victory over the Republic of Shan, Barren must journey home on a path laden with guilt, trauma, doubts, broken friendships, and fractured loyalties.Interact with a wide array of characters, each offering a fresh perspective on the devastation of war: stories of loss, dignity, forgiveness…The experience is enriched by a beautiful art style, blending traditional pixel art with 3D modeling techniques and effects.Through the Inner World, you’ll navigate Barren's deepest thoughts. Reflect on them or interact with other NPCs to uncover powerful testimonies, complete small quests, and much more.Even though the war is over, Barren will be forced to duel his way through certain areas. Use his movement and combat abilities to defeat opponents and overcome obstacles.

?? how does this game only have positive reviews? what game are these people playing. just a dull and boring way to spend 20 minutes, with a single mechanic action having bad control, with a BORING ass story written with the most generic and bland on the fence lines of "toughts" that can be best summarised with "pre elementary writing". this game literally has no meaning, anything goin on and i'm more than open for non gameplay driven experiences, but this is just terrible gaming with lazy writing. even the UI is clunky!!! 2/10 and i swear to god i'm even being generous for the aesthetic and visuals

It's a nice game, but it's very short. The art style is very nice, and so is the interesting story with a touching message. However, although there are one or two interesting gameplay mechanics, a platforming section, and a bit of fighting (albeit only like 6 of the same type of enemies), since it's all so short, it fails at leaving a mark. With an expanded storyline, more gameplay mechanics, different enemies, and such, and while keeping the charming art style, this game would be remarkable, or at least great for its genre, because I think it really has the potential.

Even for 2 dollars, I expect the game to have a middle and an end to it.

The most valuable aspect of Kaodi is the way it makes you reflect. It places you face to face with the contradictions of being a warrior: fulfilling imposed expectations. It is an intense experience with great emotional weight, standing out for its masterful art and powerful message. A reminder that war never truly ends on the battlefield, but lingers in the lives, memories, and silences of those who survived it.

Interesting game. Cool pixel graphics. Character moves very smooth, the jump and dash mechanics both feel good. The combat also is fun, but there is not a lot of it at all. Same enemies with the same move sets, no bosses. It is basically a short story with light platforming and light combat. I would really like to see what these devs could do if they fleshed out a complete game, full world, more in-depth combat, etc. For what it is, it is a good, albeit very short, game.
