About KARJALA

Remember your feelings when you first touched your parent's videotape, the 4:3 picture format, the noise on the screen and something very interesting that lies ahead.

But here the story is about something else: a creepy experiment leads a hapless soldier to Backrooms, where he has to go through several levels, meet dangerous creatures and try to get back.

Explore, hide, listen to every suspicious sound, especially footsteps.... Most importantly, survive.

KARJALA is a horror game set in the Soviet Backrooms world. The game is based on a popular internet creepypasta about an unusual place where a person gets trapped and is lost for days, months and years. All of this is flavored with the atmosphere of Karelian forests and Soviet aesthetics.

While exploring this creepy and mysterious place, you will have to familiarize yourself with the history of Backrooms exploration by the Soviet military and solve puzzles. On your way you may meet dangerous creatures, which you need to avoid by all means.

In the game KARJALA you will plunge into a tense and frightening atmosphere where the emphasis is on exploration, solving puzzles and survival. This game will have you on guard from start to finish as you try to find your way out of this dark and supernatural place.

There are several different levels of Backrooms in Karjala, each with their own unique features and challenges. In each of these levels, you may encounter different Entities that are usually hostile and dangerous. Encountering any of them can be a terrifying and deadly experience. Players should be careful and use stealth to avoid them.

Guess I'll be the first english comment haha. I liked the game, was a bit fun and the story seemed interesting, Played the game once it was released and configuring the gamma seemed a bit slow and I thought the dev's intention was to put the gamma super low, and I could barely see anything, first window you encounter, was super confusing, figured out the flashlight but only after the first patch update I found out it was crouch haha, after the first patch it seemed a bit better and saves saved me a lot of time, and damn that audio was super loud. [spoiler] Went out to the woods and still pretty confused what kills you when you meet the Matryoshka doll statue, everytime I die, respawn and can't figure out how I die, the caves seemed interesting, I enter the left one I die by the boss, enter the right one also died, figured it out pretty quick you gotta run to a little hole and find the tool for the water, the cabin took me a little while, looped around 15 times when I figured out you had to shoot the glass lol, I figure the train is the only ending as I didn't see any other ending, would be nice after the note you'd be sent back to the main menu, as there's no 'ending' screen just …

Headphone users beware: the first ""scare"" of the game plays glass_breaking.wav at such a high volume that my ear is ringing and my headphones peaked. I literally lost hearing because of this dumb game. DO NOT BUY. Also, bro, your opening titles are HORRIBLE. 60 seconds into the game, it traps the player in an unskippable elevator ride while the opening titles appear on screen. This ride lasts for an eternity and the sound is so grating and annoying i had to mute my headphones. DO NOT BUY this game is an insult to both horror and bodycam games.

I just beat the game. Enter a super trippy smokey russian underground bunker full of pale ghostly zombie like dudes that you have to shoot. Game is super fun and full of top notch immersion, loved it
