About Kingdom of Fallen: The Last Stand
The flames extinguish on a cursed kingdom. No light remains to illuminate your way, your precious memories slowly crumbling before you. As everything is about to end, could this new world be the salvation you seek? Or is it another false image served to you foreshadowing the exile of your soul?
On the border between life and death, you are transported to a blighted and unfamiliar land. Your daughter is missing and you can only save her by fighting your way through fearsome bosses. A dead man can’t save her, but by gathering all your will to continue living, you might just be able to rescue her and escape this bedeviled realm together.
Conquer this land’s harsh environments with your own two hands by crafting everything you need to survive. Build your own weapons to defeat ghoulish foes, construct your own armor to withstand their attacks, build a shelter to rest and respawn; build whatever you can to make it one more day. The strongest enemies can be felled more easily by crafting and preparing to even up the odds.
With NPCs, quests, and trading, you may be taking on this journey alone, but you’re never without company.

Kingdom of Fallen is inspired by other major Souls-like games, but is a more approachable game for all audiences. Mastering the game’s systems will tune the difficulty to your liking, giving you the challenge you crave while avoiding any unwanted frustration. Unrelenting bosses await your arrival to prove that you have the mettle to surmount their rampages.

There is no single path every player will follow in Kingdom of Fallen. You will move toward whatever resource or vista calls to you, and discover resources to help you and enemies to block your way. In the game’s various environments, you will find different kinds of materials to create your weapons and armor, encouraging you to scour every region of the damned land to get stronger.
Dynamic day and night cycles, along with dynamic weather, will make every visit to a new area or on well-trodden ground a novel experience.
Beware, however, as not all creatures in Kingdom of Fallen are clear in their intentions. Magic books that claim to teleport you around the land are capable of lying and may send you places you are not fully prepared to go.

This blend of survival and Soulslike mechanics promises to be a compelling challenge for all kinds of players. Do you have what it takes to not only rescue your daughter, but survive the harsh kingdom that lies between the two of you?

Only 2.7 hours in but have had fun so far. Not found anything ground breaking or game breaking at the mo. Found the horse though which has improved my travel times immensely lol. It's 8 quid and I'm enjoying it. I've found it very relaxing. 9.8hrs update Ok now |I've played a bit moreI'll update. A bug at the mo lets your horse turn into Pegasus flying mount when saved and relogged. No biggy but does allow you to get a super golden sword off the bat. I had to restart my game after 5 hours-ish because I couldn't hand in the quest for the key and wallet for Val. When I restarted I went to her first to get the quest before getting the quest to talk to her from Ironheart and all worked fine after that. Could be a bug or maybe I glitched it myself. Still, so far really enjoying it and I'm just pottering doing the to-do list and any quests that come up. Not really going out to just explore as I'm letting the story line take me wherever needed. Told the developer about the mount bug and they responded quickly. Let's see what happens.12 found this helpful
Thoughts
The idea here is that someone decided it would be a good idea to mash a survival, crafting game with the combat, exploration and mechanics of a Dark Souls game and yes, you can clearly see the souls-like ideas if you play the game. The thing is, none of these ideas function very well and seem half-assed, unfinished all while being sold as a full game. I'm unsure if it is still being worked on, the last small update was in May 2024 and seems to be on a permanent sale, so keep that in mind if you are interested. This is clearly an abandoned tech demo. But for under $1, sure can have a few hours of fun in it. Laughable to charge $7 for this at full price. This is a shell of a game, not even close to a full game haha4 found this helpful
I give this game a thumbs up. I'm having a blast playing it. A lot of fun. However, some places, I'm stumbling through. There are a handful of problems. I got super lucky and found water jars to fill with water by running pass a bunch on enemies. And food at the moment is only from Boars killed? and cooking the meat at a campfire? Water and food feels very limited and restricted. Need more sources to attain these food and water supplies. Food and water, stocks need to be close by when the player first starts the game. I liked the combat fighting attacking swings. Although, they felt un-timed, and just lucky hits to survive the enemy fight. The scenery is nice looking, with rolling mountains, and grassy landscape is fun to look at while roaming around. Some small areas feel hard to navigate, and I don't know what to do or what to look for. Fantastic Key binding with 'M' key for the map! The map and player location was done good. And a smart choice to add the map ... and the save anywhere, was a HUGE factor in me continuing to play after I died a few times, I didn't feel like I had to start over, and I didn't loose everything. Well done, a lot of devs. overlook th…2 found this helpful
Very interesting game, with beautiful graphics as well. I liked the ideas and concepts that were thought of while playing. If the game is expanded (more types of weapons – I like using a shield and didn't find any to create –, explorable area, construction, etc.), the bugs are fixed, and a cooperative mode is adopted (I saw that there is a totem that prevents other players from building in the same area, so I think the idea is to adopt a cooperative mode in the near future), I think the game can be more appealing to those who enjoy the mix of older concepts in a more recent game. There is potential to explore in various areas, as many have already commented. What bothered me the most, actually, is that everything you use (axe for cutting wood, pickaxe for mining, weapons for killing and defending, hammer for building) wears out with use, and you only have two options: either create a repair kit that is expensive, cumbersome, and very limited (2 uses, each of which repairs 50% durability) or create a new tool/new weapon to use, storing the broken one in a chest or throwing it away. If it's for repairing, adopt any other system (Outward, Conan, Enshrouded, Valheim, etc.), but do not …2 found this helpful
No dodge only jumping, no mouse sentivity option, UI from 2005, text overlapping on translation, no language option, feels very jank and doesnt feel unique or that it has identity. Its not souls-like, doesnt even come to mind. however if its still very very early and if its not even the start, then this has potential. the idea of a build/crafting "souls like" is fantastic, and I hope the dev or devs keep working on this. Leaving this review as a positive for the steam sale leaving it on a 1€ purchase, and the potential that this has. I'll try to update once there are changes or aditions. Correction: There is a dodge, it's Ctrl, you can use it with WASD, but the key bindings won't tell you. Update after 8 months: lol abandoned, now switching to negative review. Fun idea but never touched again.
