"Koa: The Forgotten Gods" is a student project from ISART Montreal. It's a third person adventure brawler. It's not long, but it's genuinely made and slightly higher quality than most student projects on Steam. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. Here, you get a reasonably even match, enough to give this a pass. There are some assets which are low poly, that might not look so great, but the free price tag on this gives a bit of leeway in deciding whether this is recommendable. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, do…

Very pretty little game with epic cutscenes, smooth movement and basic but well-made combat.

Game shows promise, but isn't a full game. I would play a full, more polished version, but right now, the game hasn't gone anywhere in the two years since release. 4/10
