This is a very lazily ported mobile app scam... basically a medieval Chinese dating sim for girls where you pretend to date anime dudes, own a pet cat... that's the concept, but the reality is tapping on your iPhone screen to grind towards those goals all the while being bombarded with demands to spend money in the toxic mobile app cash shop. This is a purely superficial game experience designed for iPhones. The graphics and the mechanics are bottom-tier... imagine the gaudy, cheap plastic casing on the slot machines at the casino. That's what this is, a cheap flashy veneer on a shallow non-game with one single purpose... to get your money through nasty mobile app microtransactions. Legend of the Phoenix is a relaxing otome game that combines romance, dress-up, and palace management in an ancient Chinese setting. The visuals are beautiful, the outfits are detailed, and the historical atmosphere is one of the game's biggest strengths. There are plenty of activities beyond the main story, so there's always something to do. The romance routes are enjoyable, but they often take a back seat to the game's progression systems. As you play longer, the focus shifts more toward upgrading characters, collecting resources, and participating in events. Since it's a free-to-play game, many premium features and limited-time events encourage spending, which can slow progression for free players. This is also reflected in its mixed user reviews on Steam. Overall, Legend of the Phoenix is worth trying if you enjoy collecting, customization, and historical romance. Just be prepared for a grind if you plan to play without spending money.
The trailer looked so good, I really wanted to like this game. I truly only played this game for about 5-10 minutes before getting bored very quickly, and had to uninstall as I will not be playing it anymore. It is not formatted for PC honestly, as the window was small enough you could tell it was developed for mobile only. Once you get through the story, you are only really clicking through outfits. Was not very fun honestly.
