I'm John Gothic and I approve this game1 found this helpful
feels like a game from 10 years ago.
Liked this game reminds me Gothic with the same vibe . It just needs to survive till chapter 2 to really start feeling it. Really hope there will be a continuation of the series ...
I'm only 10h in but loving the game. If you enjoy Gothic or similar, pick it up! It has the full Gothic experience of getting 1 shot by everything, The mc starts barely knowing how to hold a sword let alone engage in combat and the animations show this. No mini map and vague signposts mean exploration turns into getting very lost and running away from any enemy into getting even more lost. Plenty of quests but you have to pay attention to what is said rather than just follow a quest tracker like most modern rpg games. Devs have patched the game a fair bit and added in more stuff. The 1.08 patch added in better controller support. It is a little bit different especially in menus, right stick moves a mouse cursor to check items, but it works fine. Getting skills in combat allow you to change your combat stance, similar to nioh, which is very nice. You got 2-hander swords, mauls, crossbows, rapiers and more so plenty of combat options. Very immersive so far and the mc is a likable guy. Looking forward to continuing this.
*Update* I was just irritated, the below review was my first bad several hours out of all my total gametime, I've enjoyed most of the time playing the game. Man this game is genuinely frustrating at times, I enjoy janky games, love the type of games that dont hold your hand. I reached level 30 just exploring everything I could from act 1-3, up until the Mines part of act 3, from that point I decided to focus on the main story till act 4 so I could explore the world in act 4. Had mostly fun exploring and doing quests before the mines. Ive been rather frustrated my last several hours of gameplay. To the point ive considered just not playing anymore but ive invested too much time doing every little thing I can. The Mines part of act 3 is the worst most tedious main story questline ive ever done, youre stuck there, the layout of the mines is ridiculous and its just fetch quests, running around in circles and you cant miss the tiniest of steps or the main story will not advance. Most of the time spent here is quite actually just running from the bottom of the mines to talk to people, to running back up to the highest part of the mines to talk to people, jogging simulator with dozen…
Such a silly little game... *156h later!* The f***, am I in the future?
