✦ AI summary
Guide lost sailor Ethani through a mysterious fog-shrouded lighthouse where your choices determine her fate across three alternate endings. This narrative adventure uses inverse chronology and branching storytelling to let you experience events from multiple perspectives, rewarding multiple playthroughs with a deeper understanding of Ethani's journey.
Sailors who get lost in the storm always follow the flames of a lighthouse. It is a shining beacon of hope that guides them through even the heaviest of rains.
Ethani lost her way and ended up in a mysterious place, shrouded in fog. She is out of time, but the dense gray veil spreads as far as the eye can see. Where did she come from… and where should she go? While on the brink of despair, Ethani notices an attractive light in the distance. That light leads the poor girl to the Lighthouse, where she meets the Keeper.
However, Ethani’s journey is far from over. She needs to make a choice and set sail once more.

We recommend completing the game at least twice to fully experience its story. Explore the events from end to beginning and vice versa!
Review with accompanying screenshots and videos in Sinical Network
https://www.sinicalanimenetwork.com/post/lighthouse-of-guiding-flames-quick-thoughts Lighthouse of guiding flames is a fantasy visual novel with mystery and horror elements. It features the female protagonist Ethani who, over the course of 12 days, tells her story where she is chosen as a human sacrifice to appease a vengeful god in her remote village, goes to a lighthouse run by the keeper Astaban, meets a few people, and moves on in her life (or afterlife). The story starts off slow at first as it recounts Ethani's story backwards from day 12 to 1. Then it gets better in the second part where her story is told from day 1 to day 12, and the player gets to choose various dialogue options leading to several different endings. I like the part where each choice towards a specific route has a special colour to help players reach that ending (yellow for run away, orange for fight, and red for accept fate). There also is a compass icon that will show the player's inclination towards a particular route and ending. And finally there is a published community guide to help players get all endings and achieve…33 found this helpful
A surprisingly interesting little VN that offered something I don't typically get from VNs this size. A good, unique story that doesn't overstay its welcome. Only downside is this VN could REALLY use a copyeditor - the writing overall is good and competent, but there are tons of syntax errors ('and' is 'abd', 'a lot' becomes 'al ot', etc) that a copyeditor would catch. Doesn't hinder the story, but does take a layer of polish away from an otherwise hidden gem!4 found this helpful
I've been wanting to buy this game for a long one, and I honestly should've done that sooner. Despite a high number of spelling and grammatical errors, I can't complain about anything else. An interesting tale with an unconventional narrative, it can easily pull you into the disparaging situation that the main character faces.2 found this helpful
The art and music are really pretty but the way the story works (kinetic novel into visual novel) isn't a lot of fun and you'll spend an hour waiting to play the actual game.1 found this helpful
This game is a steal at the sale price of 99 cents....Very good...Multiple routes...achievements...choices...beautiful writing and story....very good! 10/10 - except reading the same plot over and over with minor changes bugs me a little I see that it fits with the story.
This was a fantastic game! It was so wholesome and I would play it again! It had a nice story and was exciting, too.
