About Loan Shark

You are an angler haunted by huge debts. In the midst of yet another night working at sea, you catch something different: a fish which talks, and promises to make you rich... but at what cost?

Features

 • A brief (around 30 minutes) fishing horror game about debt and hopelessness. Enjoy a twisted cautionary tale in one sitting.
 • Underwater eye-cam. Watch the fish biting the lure, then retrieve it as fast as you can. Be careful though: something else may be watching you as well...
 • Fish and gut. Fly-fish like a pro, then gut your catch to keep 'em fresh. Be careful with the knife though: you don't want to cut yourself.
 • The talking fish wants a deal. Consider the alluring promises of this mysterious being through surreal dialogues and twisted choices.
 • The loan shark is coming. This is no relaxing cozy fishing experience. Your time is running out, and something horrible lurks in the water.
Loan Shark – Hooked on Bad Decisions
Went in expecting an unsettling little game about eldritch fish and questionable business practices. Walked out with some surprisingly memorable life lessons. The underwater sound design is excellent, and the game uses silence and sudden audio cues to create some genuinely unnerving moments. Rather than relying on constant scares, it builds tension through atmosphere. I'd describe it as psychological horror more than traditional horror, and I think it's much stronger because of that. The game also has a great sense of humor despite its unsettling atmosphere. What really surprised me was how much going for every achievement added to the game. I ended up using a guide to find everything, and I'm glad I did. Discovering every ending completely changed my perspective on the story. Each one left me with something different to think about, making the whole experience feel far richer than a single playthrough. The controls can feel a little clunky, the fish gutting is occasionally janky, and the game feels surprisingly demanding to run for an indie title. None of it was enough to take away from the experience. Considering how much it…

Loan Shark does a fantastic job of imparting the hopelessness of going into debt to a loan shark, and the broad effects it can have, to the player. The interesting characters, multiple dialogue options, and multiple endings make the game very replay-able. The fish gutting could use a bit more polish, but everything else worked well, including the setting, themes, and controls. More games like this please!

I can't recommend it as it's highly unoptimised and pulls resources like a new AAA. Otherwise story is interesting enough, fishing is not so fun.

Wowza ! Great game for the price. Great concept, intriguing enough to keep me locked in and wanting to see more of the game. Only 56 mins cause i am impatient and cbf playing over again but if you have time and patience i recommend looking for all possible endings. W game 6.5/10

Awesome game. It's short but very replayable, the story has a great moral and the horror aspects are very subtle and not in your face. Wish I could play it again
