Locked Up

First, the achievements are currently busted 6/7/24 so don't go in thinking this is a short achievement sweep because it's not. But it IS a short horror story, with great suspense and just a bit of heart. Because the girl is traveling with her dog, the story is so much more gripping, upsetting, and tense. As an animal lover, you WILL be laser-focused on that dog and what's going to happen. I will say, that I thought I had solved the "mystery" of what was happening during this adventure but I was sorely mistaken, the game took a wild route to close things. I'm glad I got to experience the story, I always play these short ones blind, and glad I did. If you have an hour to spare, give it a try - once it gets going it is gripping!

Locked Up starts very intriguingly: the gloomy atmosphere, curious plot beginning and mysterious events immediately draw you in. The sound design also stood out with a pleasant immersion effect, intensifying the tension. First impressions of the game are positive - you want to observe what's happening with the main heroine and how the story develops with her faithful companion. However, the further the story progressed, the more the lack of depth became noticeable. The narrative seems slightly underdeveloped and hastily advancing towards the end, while the conclusion itself leaves more questions than answers. Several minor inconsistencies puzzled me: [spoiler] considering the heroine was hit by a car It's unclear where she got the strength to not only get up afterwards, but also break glass, and then overpower a grown man.. and this is without even accounting for her having almost no strength before that. [/spoiler] Again I'll repeat - I would have preferred more detailed and worked-out logic. Overall, if you turn a blind eye to such moments, then it's readable. The sense of hopelessness feels real as if the writer experienced this themselves. I like this horror VN. Short but effective.

Short and creepy! Not entirely original, but the horror is effective. The art is the nicest part, but don't play this one if you're uncomfortable with mushroom-based horror.

Nice and horrifying, this title. A short Visual Novel without choices, it reminds me of one of those old internet horror comics. I liked it. Go searching for mushrooms!

I enjoyed this game a lot but the abrupt end and lack of lore disappointed me. :( Basically, I actually felt anxious and terrified while playing, especially imagining a situation like this in real life lol. I found the atmosphere excellent! The art is somber and beautiful, additionally there's lovely ambient music that perfectly enhances the vibe. I also quite like the premise of the story, the plot really intrigued me, despite being rather predictable. As previously mentioned, the only things that bothered me are how rushed the later part of the game is, as well as that there aren't ANY explanations provided. The story is certainly captivating and includes interesting ideas that unfortunately didn't get properly explored at all in the end. I still love the game for its concept and atmosphere but finding out some answers would've made the experience a lot more complete.
