About Banebush

Banebush is a short and very red creepypasta in the format of a visual novel, inspired by scary tales.
Take on the role of Alexey, who is hiding from pursuit in a place full of ghosts from the past. The village, familiar to him from childhood, comes alive in his memory: terrifying grandmother's tales, carefree childhood days, and... an encounter with a nightmare lurking in the dark forest.🌳 Will you dare to step into the fairy tale if it turns out to be real? 💀
FEATURES:
  • Ominous black-and-red graphics that create an unparalleled tense and anxious atmosphere.
  • A nonlinear storyline with several different endings.
  • Mysterious and dark soundtracks in the genres of electronic and dark ambient.

6.5/10 - A beautiful atmosphere, but underused narrative potential. Banebush is far from being a bad game. I really enjoyed its art direction, atmosphere, Russian voice acting, and use of Slavic folklore. The opening immediately drew me in, and I genuinely thought the game might become one of my personal favorites. Unfortunately, after discovering all of its endings, I was left wanting more. Despite the choices on offer, most playthroughs remain largely similar, and several conclusions felt more like variations of the same ending than genuinely distinct narrative paths. For a game that encourages multiple playthroughs, I would have liked to discover far more new scenes, different sides of the characters, and revelations capable of changing my perception of the story. The unsettling atmosphere works very well during the first playthrough, but quickly loses much of its impact when you have to repeat the same sections. Once the initial mystery has faded, the game does not develop its horror, mystery, or folklore enough to maintain that sense of tension. Some of the achievements (particularly those requiring you to repair the radio multiple times within increasingly strict time limi…

This is a Red Gem of a game. A solid story, Atmosphere, beautiful art and animations. If you're into Visual Novels and Horror games and are cool with the entire game being red, I say grab it!

A pretty good—albeit a bit short—visual novel with multiple endings, set in black-and-red tones and featuring music by REDCHINAWAVE (surprise!) Special thanks for that little burst of cuteness in the form of Vas'ka dancing cat :)

Wasn't expecting much for 3 euros but DAMN this exceeded any expectation I had, seriously regret buying this on sale, I'd give triple the regular price. The atmosphere is great, I love the style, can't say much about the voice acting as I don't speak the language but I enjoyed it personally, the little bits of gameplay are fun and the nostalgia expressed by the protagonist really hit home for me. Couldn't recommend this enough.

It's a fun and interesting game. I'm glad that some people like and want to make games with a storyline based on Slavic folklore. It has multiple endings. It's a lot of reading (since it's a visual novel), but that's not a problem for me. I played several endings and they were interesting. I also like the atmosphere and the fact that the game is only black and red. Good for an evening.

Not a bad game, just very short (2 hours~) Great concept, but I dont enjoy playing games more than once. If you like a multiple endings, choices matter, game. Please pick this up. Pros: Voice acting is amazing story is written very well endings were good cons just not my kind of game
