Cooking Companions

I love "cooking" with my "companions"! One of the most unique games I've played in the Visual Novel genre! It's such a different type of story compared to most other visual novels and I'm all for it. Ever since I played the Appetizer Edition, I fell in love with the game as the game's overall charm kept me wanting more of what it's offering. Please give this underrated gem a try! [spoiler] I bet they would be [i] [b] dying [/b] [/i] to try out today's [b] menu [/b]. [/spoiler] [b] Rating[/b]: 9/10

The game is good overall, but I was disappointed. You can buy it on sale, but definitely not at full price.

Cooking Companions is a fun little horror VN you can easily finish in a night. While some of it's art can be quite rudimentary (Anatoly's sprite at the table comes to mind) and the scares primarily rely on scary faces, it's nonetheless enjoyable for it's short 2-3 hr runtime. I would advise getting this game on sale, as it's short with very little branching paths and mostly statics sprites except for the occasional gorgeously animated inbetweens. Despite that, I think the game has some merit to stand on as premise is quite unique for a visual novel and the dread is written very well. This is a game best gone in blind, as I had it spoiled to me slightly before heading in which really soured the experience as a whole but the premise is so firm in it's concept that it kept my attention the entire time and had my mind running rampant with questions. If you want a DDLC-like time than go for Cooking Companions. None of the scares were too scary but definitely dreadful and fun to experience. I'd love another VN with a similar premise as I wish it stewed on that initial dread slightly longer, no pun intended.
