Silenced: The House — 0.4h played | 11/11 achievements | Visual Novel Horror

TL;DR — A short horror VN about Ashley and her friends entering a cursed house to perform a ritual linked to her missing parents. It has multiple endings and decent atmosphere… but the story is generic and the art style feels inconsistent and amateur-ish. Buy only on sale, and I personally don’t recommend it.
Silenced: The House is a straightforward “teen horror ritual gone wrong” visual novel. You play Ashley, surrounded by a small group of friends with their own backstories, and the whole thing quickly slides into the classic recipe: the house is not safe, something answers the ritual, people get picked off, and you’re left chasing the “good ending” among several outcomes. To be fair: it’s short, it’s easy to digest, and it does try to deliver that haunted-house vibe with a few monsters/spirits moments and a clear objective (Ashley’s parents). There was also an update in 2024, so the game isn’t completely abandoned. But I’m stuck between “factually okay” and “personally not sold.” The writing and plot beats are extremely familiar, with twists that feel more “expected ho…
This game has really beautiful and original sepia art. But the texts are terrible. Not that it was that badly translated, but they probably tried to have some kind of artistic storytelling and with translation it just did not work. The story was good, but the ending was suddenly really quick and honestly i did not understand it at all, so it left me disappointed. But i still recommend it to buy it on sale at least for the art. Also it is good on steam deck.
It's a fairly short experience but with such a low price point that's not a deal breaker. That the devs updated it 6 years after release with a little more content is what gets it over the line to a thumbs up.
how can i find the soundtrack? some help please
I want to recommend this game but I honestly can't. Visuals, music and general feel are all there, but the overall story just didn't grab me like it should have.
It was a fun game that let me read and experience abit of story telling of the characters. Especially Ashley, just wish I knew the reason why some of the characters killed like Llyod, Ella, Grace and Kate.
