Mad Age & This Guy is a handheld (Switch) gaming appliance game, ported to Steam to try scrape a few more bucks out of a bad idea. It's a ripoff of the 1990's Flash game, Sokoban, which you can play for free in a web browser (but these guys want your money for ripping off someone else's game). Gameplay is identical, with a few more gimmicks that don't fundamentally change the fact this is a 1990's Flash tier box pusher. Push boxes around to complete the objectives for each level and wonder why you spent thousands on a gaming rig to play games that could run in Internet Explorer on a 386. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result o…3 found this helpful
Beautiful game, nice premise of using the Bomberman idea for puzzle with little focus on sokoban puzzles, but the level design is just the worst, feels like stuff was placed in stages at random. No brain challenge at all. Any difficulty this may have comes from the fact that enemies' behavior also seems random and impossible to predict, so you end up having to rely on luck a bit too much. On top of that, your character's movement is super slow. Levels are really short (I think there should be 54 of them), still I was bored by the end of level 3 and couldn't bring myself to move forward after beating level 6. All in all, the experience is very bland and the fun factor just isn't there.2 found this helpful
The Bomberman + Sokoban is awesome, I can't believe I haven't seen it in more games, but besides that, there isn't any strong gameplay besides, well, Bomberman + Sokoban. It's a great idea, but it looks like the relied on that fact too much, and didn't cared to stop for a second and try to add something new. The dificulty is kinda random, some levels are really hard if you are not paying much attention, dying a lot..., and then you complete the next 3 levels in 30 seconds each. There is a unique gameplay mechanic used ONCE in the game, in the Ice levels, never again. And I think that there was planned some kind of "teleport" using some pipes, connecting different parts of the levels (the sprites are there). It took me some moment to realize I couldn't walk throught there, or push bombs, boxes, enemies or anything. I don't understand how nobody placed them and tought "Hey, maybe we can make these things functional" or something. I don't know, there is a lot potential gameplay mechanics that would be cool to see here, like different kind of bombs, laser variants that rotate 90º every 2 seconds, rectangular boxes etc. But nothing, it's JUST Bomberman + Sokoban
this game make my brain work so hard
To the devs: please allow cloud saving. Yes, it works great on Deck but I'm not gonna do everything again until mid-Ice Caves. I remembered I liked the game and would like to finish it... but not from scratch.
Storywise: terrible Gameplaywise: so-so
