These Making History games are very good wargames. This one is one of the only WW2 global wargames you can play that enables stacking, which is essential for realistic naval and land combat results. The mechanics of this game make the warfare take central place but you still have a lot of depth regarding diplomacy and trading for needed resources. There is also a sizeable research tree. But its the warfare that really shines here. This is played over provinces like HoI4 and you can move whatever units you want into each province - army units, artillery and planes - and configure the stacks however you want. Despite of harsh critisism in past and a bit too linear starting phase and also few omitted opportunities in functional design there is still a huge fun-potential awaiting each strategy fan there. A game rather for a kind of "lean back"-patient strategy fans though. For me there was no doubt it's for me a definitive fun there - and thus a "buy". Well, I still play it occasionally nowadays.

I find the UI difficult to adjust to. I prefer the Muzzy Lane version
