About Manor Madness

Manor Madness is a 3D, third-person sandbox game. In this game, you play a young ghost, Ghustav, who wants to learn how to become a real poltergeist.

As a ghost, you can possess, throw, and interact with different objects around the house. Observe each visitor carefully to understand their fears and exploit them to make the humans’ blood run cold.

Ghustav attends Polterhigh, the most prestigious school for poltergeisting. In the course Manor Madness, you will learn what it means to be a poltergeist and what abilities are at your disposal. In each assignment, your goal is to scare all the humans out of your assigned manor.

Currently on sale, the manor is frequented by humans interested in buying the building and a realtor trying his best to sell the house. He needs to get creative in finding excuses for your spooky shenanigans. The realtor has a soothing effect on the other humans in the room. Distract him to maximize your scariness.

Will you merely be able to send a shiver down their spine, or will you succeed in scaring their pants off? Your class starts now!

"Manor Madness" is a very mediocre amateur game project, basically you're in a low poly mansion pretending to be a ghost and you have to do various tricks to scare people away from your house... this is a pretty poor idea, implemented poorly. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB sho…

I didn't feel especially in control of the spookery when everyone seemed to wander all over the place. Maybe there's a more reliable way to distract the realtor but I didn't enjoy it.

First I was amazed: I thought someone finally made a decent remake of the classic Sega Genesis/Megadrive game "Haunted - Starring Polterguy", which is until today still my all-time favorite game! And yes, the mechanics are very similar in this game here, too. But the downside and reason why I gave this game a bad review is: there are only 2 levels available. The first "training" one and the final exam. That's it? Sure, I could try to get the last, 3 remaining achievements, but that's still not rescueing a game, which could have so much potential. Such a mean tease...

Occasionally drops in frames. But it's fun and simple and very short. And it's free so why not try it out.

If there were more levels, I would've probably played them all in one go. Really fun and charming game, way more accessible than Ghost Master. (~8/10)
