About Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror

Have you ever wondered what it feels to be a ghostly being?

You have always lived happily in your mansion. A mansion that you managed to obtain with a lot of hard work and many personal sacrifices. Naturally you don't want anyone else to take care of it, not even in death! But now, after your demise, many tenants have taken over it, and this is intolerable to you.
Luckily, your love for your manor has granted you powers that will help you get rid of those pesky individuals.

Watch them run and scream, scaring them using your intelligence, wit, and with the use of powers like possessions, spectres, altering objects and more.
Have fun and play with the occult... and become a Poltergeist!

Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror is a puzzle game for PC/Mac/Linux, in which you are a ghost named Henry B. Knight. You will scare the tenants currently living in your house, so you can have some peace at last in the afterlife.

I'm pretty sure that this game was inspired by a relatively old game called Ghost Master. (2003) The shtick is you are a ghost and you want to get rid of all the people (and dogs) in an area in order to reclaim your mansion. (It's a puzzle game.) You have a handful of powers with a limited number of uses based on the level and each has a small number of targets. It seems like this ought to give you more options than the original Ghost Master game but that is misleading. The order of use of powers is less important in Poltergeist: APH. And the objects that are potential targets of your powers only matter as to what room they are in. They are otherwise identical. So... the number of possible solutions to any given puzzle are fewer, thus making the puzzles easier. Mostly. Otherwise... The artwork is retro but not bad. The music is good for about three minutes then you have to turn it off. Overall, I want to give it a "meh." But that's not an official Steam rating. Honestly I don't recommend it. If you are serious about thias sort of puzzle game there was a Friday the 13th one that did better. This one isn't all that bad but I'd get it on sale.

"Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror" is a 2.5D puzzle game with a retro pixel "art" veneer. It's a simple puzzle game where you are presented with an isometric house, and your goal is to scare away the occupants using a limited number of special "ghost" abilities. It's basically a ripoff of an older game called Ghost Master from 2003, only this has worse graphics (despite being over 11 years more modern). The game is rendered partially in 3D which means the developers were capable of doing more modern visuals but they deliberately chose not to. Who makes something that looks bad, on purpose? I'm not sure what they intended to achieve by that. While there's some good ideas here (because this is just a ripoff of someone else's game), the presentation is very poor. Despite being 8 years old, with visuals that would look bad for something 18 years old, the developer has no qualms about trying to gouge PC gamers $8 for the kind of thing that can be done in a browser these days. I can't recommend it.

If you're looking for a puzzle game, that's not too hard and looks nice, this is the game for you. Took me 10-ish hours of total play time.

A quirky little puzzle game that unfortunately is a little stunted in scope and gets dull fairly quickly.

A nice and creative puzzle game, this is a product of love, the developer (Glitchy Pixel) is only two people, a very talented married Colombian couple, wife does the art and husband the coding, give it a shot, it´s addictive and challenging with more than enough levels. Prof that even small Latin American developers can make great and unique games.

If you would like to practice scaring people using your ghost friends, then this is the game for you. It's a lot like Haunt the House, if you like that game.
