Master Reboot

Man, this game is ROUGH. I like puzzle games and I like older games, so I'm not a graphics elitist in any way, and I like the visual style, as low detail as it is, but what bothers me is how janky the scripting, animations, transitions, etc are. There are so many bizarre hard cuts and glitchy cuts and broken animations that I find it really hard to believe that no one noticed any of it. Interaction with objects in the world (and the platforming) are equally clunky and unpleasant. The puzzles range from so mindlessly basic that they're boring or so badly implemented and near-broken that they're infuriating, Calling this a horror game is absurd too, and I don't even want to get into that. I've already spent too much time on this disappointing game. I sure hope Soul Axiom is better than this because I unfortunately already bought it in the same sale...

Well NO, just No! By any means avoid this game if you can, the story isnt worth it and the game aged bad. 2013 this was Indie Game at its shiniest form of creativity but 2025? NO evrything is off and you will waste on a story you cant get on puzzles you have to guess so much time and then the game ends and you dont know more then you started while hating all the trial and error and OHH LORD this plane it was just pain! If you want to see how the indie scene started and are curious what good indie games back then looked like SURE get it on sale but otherwise no dont waste any time.

Before pressing start, just from the menu, I already knew it was a well polished game offering an amazing experience, and I was right.

Master Reboot is a genuinely unique and atmospheric experience that surprised me with how much it got under my skin — the plane level in particular had me legitimately on edge in a way I didn't expect from an indie puzzle game. The Soul Cloud concept is fascinating, and the way the story slowly drips out through scattered memories and collectible blue duckies makes piecing it all together feel rewarding. That said, the game is frustratingly inconsistent: for every beautifully surreal memory, there's a clunky platforming section or a nonsensical puzzle that kills the momentum, and the timed sequences feel out of place in what is otherwise an atmospheric exploration game. If you can tolerate some rough edges and go in with the right expectations — think walking sim with puzzle elements and occasional horror, not a polished AAA experience — there's something genuinely special buried here.

Its a basic horror game. Nothing ever feels revolutionary and nothing ever feels executed perfectly, but that's why I love it so much. It gave a complete story, and it gave a satisfying game to play. I was always engaged and always glued to the screen even during some of its more monotonous objectives. This game feels special to me in a way that a lot of games haven't. I feel confident when I say that this is my third favorite game of all time. It may not be your favorite game, but I think you'll at least stick around for the full ride, and enjoy the journey this game has to offer. 10/10 (Without Personal Bias: 8.5/10)
